NPCs and nodes

Been reading a lot on the valve wiki, info_node caught my attention. I tried spawning one in lua, the game crashing immediately on the **[Entity.Spawn](** call.
So, are nodes worthless in lua? Am i stuck sending npcs to random positions?

Unfortunately the info_node entity cannot be created via Lua, as I think they need to be baked into the nodegraph (when the map is compiled or something similiar).
Your best bet is to use a map that already has the nodes in place.

As conna said, there’s no way to create any kind of vanilla NPC nodes via lua.
However I’m working on a custom nodegraph system which uses both the vanilla nodegraph of a map (if it exists), and nodes that you can add to a map yourself.
The black nodes and grey links are part of the nodegraph that already existed on this map. The yellow nodes and green links are newly added.
The new nodegraph can be used by any vanilla NPCs, and any SNPC that was scripted to be able to do so.

It’s not quite finished yet, but I think I can release it soon.
