Opening hammer in the steam folders

When I try to open hammer in the the steam directory, it gives me a config screen and I have no idea what to do with it. Can anyone give a solution?

Picture plz. It helps a lot.

Which folder are you launching it from?

If it’s from Source SDK 2013 singleplayer you want to pick a single player game like HL2

If it’s from Source SDK 2013 Multiplayer you want to pick HL2 Deathmatch

If it’s for CSS/TF2/DoD you pick that game from the list.

This is what pops up when I try to open it.

I’m opening it from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\superp61\sourcesdk\bin\source2007\bin

PM me and ill give you my skype info. i’ll show you how to set up hammer.

I forget exactly how to do this and am at work so can’t look right now. But here is how I figured out how to set it up.

Create a shortcut to hammer and go to its properties.
Change the startup location to the bin folder of the game you want to map for. Try the shortcut. If it doesn’t work you need to add parameters to the command line of the shortcut. Easiest way to find out those parameters is to start hammer up from SourceSdk launcher, download process explorer and check what parameters SourceSdk started it with.

You are using the wrong hammer.

Hammer is now launched from

steam/steamapps/common/gamename/bin

Unless you are mapping for a 2007/2006 mod or game with authoring tools in steam that is how you launch it.

Oh, thanks man. I have a project that I really want to work on, and now I can start it.
