People connect, then get kicked in half a second

I started a dedicated server. This server isn’t on my computer or on my lan so no port forwarding problems or anything like that. Now whenever someone tries to connect to my server they go to the connections screen for half a second and then get sent back to the server list. Any ideas of what im doing wrong?

does anyone have an idea?

Well, usually servers are hosted ON peoples computers, through the use of HLDS and SRCDS, because those are the most useful methods, or alternatively, if you are willing to spend money about £10 a month, you can buy a server, which can be connected to via your home computer, from there you can forward ports on that, and host servers on that.
But i didn’t do that, i just used my own computer.
So maybe you DO NEED to have your seerver files on your computer.

When they get disconnected, check the console. Does it print “Invalid steam key size”?

Yes it does. Is there a fix to that?

Looking at the first page of the server hosting forum would have helped greatly.

Yes it does say it that may times.

Then you are doing something massively wrong.

Try looking at the other 3-4 topics on the front page.
