POOR server service quality of playrust.eu, please avoid

I’ve rent a 250 man server from playrust.eu. The server located in Hong Kong, it’s been a week but honestly I have to say this service is a nightmare:

  • The control panel was EXTREMELY slow. You have to wait a day long to log in.

  • The FTP was also EXTREMELY slow, always got “connection timeout” when you want to upload/download any files.

  • The server is lagging badly. I’ve tried to PING the direct IP address and got about 20% of package loss ratio.

As you can see, the latency & package ratio makes this server very unstable. I’ve also asked players inside game and got the same reply, so I’m pretty sure this is not a normal situation.
I’ve also tried using proxy server from different countries, but also got same result.

  • Server often crash/stop without any notification or announcement. You don’t know when your server will stopped.

  • Servers don’t have separate IP address, they are using different port for different servers, which means if one physical machine was down, multiple servers will be affected.

  • You can’t even log into control panel now! It’s been 2-3 days, my own server along with others were down, but none of us got an announcement or status report from them.

  • The customer service was also as bad as their servers. I’ve reported this issue on Feb. 1st, but after 5 days they are “still trying to find the cause for those issues” without any reply.

The reason I chose playrust.eu was it’s on Facepuch’s partner list. But I have to mention Garry here that playrust.eu are doing TERRIBLE business. It seems they don’t even care about customer experience. It’s not Garry and his team’s fault, but co-operate with playrust.eu may damage your business reputation. Please be very careful when you say someone is our service partner. Facepunch official should show a neutral stance, or it could be misleading people.

So… You thought routing your computer through a proxy would fix the latency issue? If anything it would make it worse, as it would add another stop for the packets to go through.

Not trying to say your rant is not warranted, or vouching for their service. Just pointing out this wouldn’t help you at all.

Technically speaking, using a proxy server is just a method to locate the issue(whether it’s my ISP’s fault or not). I’m not asking any help here, but just a mention to you guys not get into same situation.
