Portal2: linked_portal_door SetPartner not working?

Ok, so I have quite a few of these linked_portal_doors. I have one at the end of the “Elevator” and one at the lobby “Entrance”, one at the lobby “Exit” and one in “Level1”, and one in “Level2”.

The Linked Partner for “Elevator” is “Entrance” and the Linked Partner for “Entrance” is “Elevator”. That works well.
The Linked Partner for “Exit” is “Level1” and the Linked Partner for “Level1” is “Exit”. That works well.

Now, when I pass a trigger, I SetPartner of “Exit” to “Level2”. When I look back at the door, it doesn’t show “Level2” but the blank wall of the alcove I put the “Exit” in.

Why does this happen? I’ve made sure these are pointing in the right direction. I even added a SetPartner of “Level2” to “Exit”.

I’m pretty sure you have to close the door, fire SetPartner, and then open it after. What you are seeing is likely the door closing itself, expecting to you to open it after the fact. Changing a Portals destination while its’ open would look weird and confuse players, which is probably why it closes itself when its’ partner is changed.

Ah, ok. Wish that was a little more clear. The Valve Developer Wiki doesn’t specify this, and didn’t find any expanded explanations elsewhere. Thanks.
