Possible to render player model with lower alpha without overlapping poly's?

^ I hate how ugly this looks. The overlapping stuff around the neck and waist looks awful. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any way to fix this.

I can render the 3D model to a stencil and set the alpha, but it’s akin to setting the alpha via SetColor, and what I’d like to do is control his opacity in the same way a layer would work in Photoshop. Is there any way to do this?

Render it without alpha into a different render target, then copy the render target into the original render target with alpha.

Stencils might work. With proper Z-Fail operations. I would play around with it.

They do work but you lose all detail in the model.
