Problem : could not run the map

When i run my map for some reason i do not obtain a .bsp but a .lin file … Can anyone help me ?

A .lin file means that your map has a leak. Click Map > Load Pointfile , it should ask you if you want to load in the default point file, click yes and follow the line to see what is leaking.

where do i click the map ? On the folder or in hammer

Find the red line easily by turning off all visgroups.


The command failed. Windows reported the error:
"Le fichier spécifié est introuvable."

This is the problem. This means that your map is not compiled because of some errors during the compilation.
And from what I see, here’s the error :

So how can i fix this ?

Get rid of some of your brushes or turn them into models using propper or something.

I think the error is caused by the leak. Never heard of a 1024 limit on brushes.

Ok so i need to found the leak and fix them using Load Pointfile is that right ?

Load Pointfile helps you find the leak, after you’ve found it you need to patch it up. Just make sure the leaking entity is protected from the black void.

See the VisGroups to the right in Hammer? Go to Auto.
Then deselect World Details, Entities, Displacements, Water, Tools Brushes.
Whatever is left should seal the map (like a tied up water balloon), so follow the red line until you find void.
There’s a chance Entity (-140.39 -270.00 153.00) has had it’s origin confused, in which case you should replace it.

Ok so here is the line , but i do not see any entities ? And how can i replace it ?

See the blackness? That’s the void. Entities can’t exist within the void. Seal the map using brushes.

Where are the brushes in hammer ?

You need to seal your map! A unsealed map will cause a leak to the void and your map will fail to compile!
