Well it looks like your well on your way but there are quite a few places for improvement.

-Lighting is too dark and too bright in some places
-Buildings need more detail to them
-Some mediocre texture choice/placement.

Read some of the tutorials here they helped me out quite a bit

Some people will rate dumb and talk badly about it but that’s only because your most likely somewhat new to mapping.

I was expecting a map based on the movie

i didnt know that it where a movie.

Areas to improve:

  • Texture placement, there are some very obvious issues where textures don’t line up. You have also used some of the most hideous wall textures i have ever seen. Along with floor textures on wall/ceiling, it makes the map look shoddy.
  • Lighting, At the moment it is very bland. Only the most pristine of labs will have pure white lights. Change the colour of the lights to reflect the use. Fluorescent will use a yellowy tint, sewer tunnels will be more browny, and light blue can be used to symbolize cold environments.
  • Detail, currently the rooms are very sparse, with not many props. Clutter will add to the environment, as will decals on walls/floors. For example, if you had a cluster of three barrels of different skins, a stain on the floor under them would add to the feel of the environment. Pick props and decals carefully though…place the wrong thing and it will mess with the feel of the map.
  • Brushwork, very blocky. Props and detailed brushwork will hide the square rooms. Even some pipes along the walls or boxes of ammunition would distract the user fro mthe fact they are in a small square room.

All in all, this map needs life. At the moment it is very dull, very average. Although you seem to have learnt how to map, you haven’t yet learnt how to create an environment. Something to work on perhaps?
