rp_fallout3 by opti

I want to present you another generic fallout 3 map i’ve made in the past time. The map right now is in version.002 and still has bugs, errors and performance problems. Because
of the size of the map it is pretty difficult to keep track of things. So i decided it is better if i “divide” the map into worksections where i work on every section seperately to improve from version to version so i can avoid
a mapping burnout haha. So you will most likely still find bugs and errors in some parts of the map.

Well lets get to the features allready:

  • Big wasteland
  • A big town with police station, shopping centre, townhall etc. and more
  • A smaller town with urban buildings
  • Outcast base
  • Enclave base
  • Brotherhood of Steel base
  • 4 Raider bases
  • Street connections between locations
  • A drive-in theatre
  • Robot repair center
  • Car dealership
  • Cave system
  • Random Vertibirds flying across the map (still has problems)

The most important feature:

  • A vault with animated doors

**Atmosphere: **

  • The map uses the painted skybox so everyone can make their own decisions about day, night, sky and fog settings.

Out of the many wasteland theme rp maps, yours comes the closest to capturing the feel of fallout 3. Probably the textures and props.

Hello! Sorry that i necro this post but i dont want to create a new thread so i use this existing one. It was a long time since i updated my progress on this map but i had a lot of things to do in private so there was never enough time to continue on this. Most people complained about the performance and the stock HL2 textures so i decided to totally rewwork the map and split it up into seperate areas for better performance (hopefully). Also i am trying to replace all the HL2 textures with custom ones so people without source games can enjoy this map.

The last few weeks i was able to rework parts of the map to make it look “better” and not so “empty”. What really bothered me was the warehouse that served as the enclave hideout. It looked like this:

Now i thought myself “A warehouse cant just stand in the middle of nothing, there must be a road leading to it and maybe some buildings around”. Also honestly the “warehouse” was so goddamn ugly so i transformed it into a factory and it looks now like this:

That warehouse looks very fallout-y now, good work

watch out with your env_fog_controller distances. the interior of the warehouse was being clouded with it!
