Rust Game slows down after some time

Hey ho guys,

i got the game last night, for the first 15mins all runs fine but then the game slows down more and more until my pc crash´d…
my Rust Gamesettings are on very low…

here are my specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor (6 CPUs) ~3,4GHZ
8192MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti 4GB
Logitech G105 Keyboard
Logitech G930 Headset

i can run the most games at max settings without any problems, any suggestions why Rust kills my pc?

Crash!!!

So basically the game starts off ok with a relatively high FPS, but then the FPS starts to decline and get so low to a point where it crashes, is this correct?

yup thats correct!

Can you use Fraps/Afterburner to see what FPS you are getting and at what point when it crashes what the FPS is sitting on.

Can you also try and unplug your headset - Disable sound even, as it seems the last thing that happened before it killed the game was loading your headset/drivers.

Were you talking over voip at the time?

ok i can do that just give me around 30mins to check, i disabled all audio except for the G930 drivers drivers to test this, i already hear´d about that earlier

Looks like you reconnected a few times in that log. If you stick to one server does it still slow down? Every time you disconnect and reconnect to a different server or even the same server the game will progressively slow down (at least in my experience, i always assumed it wasnt properly unloading all the data from the previous game before loading a new one). This happens to me even with 16gb of ram and a gtx 680, but not when I stay in a server without changing or reconnecting. The fix is to exit out of rust and open again whenever you disconnect from a server, used to be a pain in the ass before they added server history. Oh and also i noticed problems with placing objects/structures after a reconnect that is remedied by restarting the client.

so i´m back, this was an interesting test with fraps, i could´t reproduce the crashing issue but it looks like my FPS are going down when i hit a zombie/animal/player or being hit by zombies/animals/players

nope grass is still “on” but the view distance isnt very far so the grass is invisable at 50-100 feet

Could it possibly be your temperatures? Sometimes when processor/gpu heats too much it starts throttling (dropping clock frequencies) and that will slow down the game. Try downloading RealTemp or HWinfo and see what your temperatures are while on desktop and playing :zoid:

I didn’t read responses but I work on computers if I had to guess it would be either your cpu over heating or the video card over heating.
Clean out both fans, and if you know how to, replace heat sink compound on cpu. Should fix it
