Serious performance issues

I got gmod since it was available and always runned extra smooth…
Now i’m getting image from a hdtv via hdmi out.
Singleplayer is fine but as soon as i join a server the frames keep goiing up and down…120->20 fps to 120 again…
Seems like any OB game runs bad…
Any ideas?

Check your graphics settings, make them lower and see if it still runs slow, if it does then you might want to check what processes you have running and close all unnecessary programs that take up your CPU’s processing.

Well it was running great before at the same settings.
Even when i change to 640*480 its even worse…

I have it in mp when joining a server
I dont have it in sp and mp host…
Something with network settings?

I’m testing a a server right now and when i move its framedrops all over the place :s
btw i’m using a fresh install!

Please read my post in the sticky entitled “Help! My Gmod runs slow”.

already done that and its the same.

Looks like every OB game runs bad,TF2,Portal,gmod,EP2…

Woah, i got the same problem too. I have good specs and i had good FPS earlier but nowadays it’s really laggy.

Yep ive seen some thread over the interwebz about this already incluing yours…

Try this for me

press tab while in game (when its laggy)
your cursor wil appear and your framedrops and lag stops…
i suspect nvidia… (works on my ati laptop)

The simplest check of all times.

Screw me, I busted myself…

The system is watercooled and gpu temp never rises above 65.
You didnt have show the pictures to tell me…

Water cooled? Water on a computer? :ohdear:

this made it work

  • Open regedit
  • Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
  • There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
  • Reboot

You can get some cooled by non-conductive mineral oils.

I wish for cards that do not need to be cooled, we might see that one day…

You idiot. Registry Editing does noting. Also, you trying to give him a 0xFFFFFFFF error?

Post your results from also
