Skingroups and bodygroups question

Just a quick question, is it better (when skinning a model that’ll have bodygroups) to skin bodygroup meshes separatelly or as in a single object and then detach them later?

By skins, are you referring to rigging or texturing?

When building a skin it’s always better to rig the entire thing at once then remove pieces later.
Especially for things like straps that span the torso/shoulder.
