Spot_light help please !

I want to make some effect for spot light and I don’t know how to place it to have the effect I want

I want one spot light pointing to the top and one to the ground.

You still need to put light entities, the spot light effect only gives the appearance of a spotlight effect, you need to either add a light_spot or a light entity (would suggest Light_spot) also if you want it to look like it is a cone on the wall itself just decrease the light-map scale in that part to like 10 or something.

Point_spotlight just puts a beam to the light (and if I am correct on the side it makes it look like there is a sprite at the end of it to?) you still have to add the light source itself. (If I am wrong correct me)

One other question how can I have the preview of light in Hammer working properly ? I tried 3D lighting preview but the preview suck alway.

You can’t really. I think ray-traced preview works in the L4D SDK but not the normal one.

Maybe put a very dim light ent just offset from the wall, to hide that line between the wall and the floor, where the light changes? Or just increase the outer cone angle a little bit.
That bit is blindingly obvious.

Did you compile with VRad set to “Normal”?

yes sure, but I think vrad make an error and the compiler continue anyway, it’s possible ?
