Strange lighting artifacts in L4D2

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to make a map with a dark atmosphere but the lighting is awful.
Take a look:

As you can see, there’s a lot of artifacts on the walls.
It seems to be related to the textures because the texture in the middle comes from Hammer while the white and the blue textures are custom.
All textures have 16 in the lightmap scale, I tried with a lower value but it’s still the same.
I tried different export settings on VTFedit, but still :frowning:

Now I’m completly lost, and it’s been 2 months I started this map :smiley:
If anyone knows something, let me know :slight_smile:

It’s happening because your lighting is to dim. Try adding more light sources.

Yes, but these artifacts don’t seem to apply on the standard textures, only on the custom ones.
And I’m trying to get a dark lighting, adding more light sources would correct the problem indeed, but it would totally destroy what I’m trying to do as well :confused:

Can we even get a dark lighting in Source ? :smiley:

The main issue I see with those custom textures is that they are solid colours. This always makes lightmapping artefacts far more pronounced. As for achieving dark lighting with better quality, see my reply to a similar thread:
