Switch to oxide...major problem.

I have been waiting on this patch so move to oxide, but I have encountered problems that Google searches would not answer. I thought I would bring my questions here and see if I can get some answers and a fix so that I can get my server up and running again.

After installing Oxide and a couple plugins(MOTD, Player List, Private Message) the only thing that happens when I try to use any command (ie /help /list etc) is a notice pops up saying “Unknown Chat Command.”

I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, installing this first, installing that first, etc and no matter what order I do it in I only get this message. Even the MOTD which I am guessing doesn’t need to be configured, doesn’t work.

I literally tired to get things working for 4 hours last night, and got no where. The only thing that changed was at first even with oxide installed typing /help would just appear in chat. Now it doesn’t, but everyone is only getting the message “Unknown Chat Command”.

If there is any info y’all need to help me out just let me know. Thanks everyone!

Anyone?

Check your logs. Likely your are running outdated plugins. /help is not a default Oxide command either, it’s from plugins such as Oxmin or Basics.

This is the order I did things.

1:Stopped server.
2:Deleted all content in file manager.
3:Started Server for new game files.
4:Updated Steam
5:Installed Oxide
6:Installed Oxmin
7:Installed MOTD
8:Started Server
9:Logged in and only get “Unknown Chat Command”

Were can I get my logs?

Logs are stored under save/oxide/logs. Your host may have a special viewer for them on the control panel.

**** Crash! ****

That’s your Rust server log, and nothing in there points toward Oxide. For the Oxide logs, look under save/oxide/logs.

I see that the version are out of date, but i am installing directing from one click HFB.

Yeah, your plugins are outdated. Simply upload the latest from the Oxide site via FTP.

Alright, well I guess this will have to wait. Current location has a lot of things blocked. Thanks for the help! Hopefully when I get home this will patch me right up.

No problem! Let me know if you have any issues after updating.

One more question. After uninstalling both plugins(motd and oxmin) this is what my log looks like. Is my version of oxide also the wrong one?

Your Oxide version is fine, you’re just using older versions of plugins that didn’t have their version specified. Plugins are required to have an author and version in them as of Oxide 1.16.

When looking for plugins on the Oxide forum, you can click “Updated” tab and it will tell you if it has been updated for the newest version (1.16).

“Updates” tab doesn’t always show updates, because not all plugins required updates for 1.16.
