I have a suggestion.
As we all know, textures are very important in maps. On top of it, to make a map unique, you cannot deny custom texturing.
So my suggestion is a mapping subforum (like Releases and Requests) called… “Textures”! Or even it’s own forum?
This would be great for exchanging, showing, requesting, trolling about, ask about, etc etc textures.
So how about it?

and you need a compatition subfourm, mapping is going to have loads of subfourms if we get our own way.
Models/skins
Skins for models. Not for mapping.
A competition subforum isn’t necessary for the occasional thread.
Also, I remember now that Garry denied a similar subforum request months ago.
To be honest though, I don’t see a point of denying a texture subforum. If the subforum doesn’t seem to meet the condition in specific amount of time/days then Garry or anyone with admin power can remove it easily.
Texture is a valuable material to games and is generally a reason why map from different games look unique. Plus it would benefits the map section by providing maps with custom contents to use rather than stick to the default boring HL2 assets. (Depends I guess.)
It’s for both, materials for mapping and for models are exactly the same.

Both of them have the textures as VTF’s with an accompanying VMT as a material type. The only difference is that you have to add a $model 1 line for models, as well as change the shader to “VertexLitGeneric”
While we are possibly at it, we should add a model sub-forum with the same functions, too many people use brushes in places that should be models.
Or just do a combination of both. A modeling/texturing sub-forum.
I would like to see this. Also, it’s odd, there is quality maps, competitions, pimpage thread and interesting posts in the mapping forum here, but the modeling forum is a cesspool of dodgy model hacks and rips, I never even bother look in there anymore.
