Texture troubles

I’ve spent the last weekend teaching myself modelling and creating a model, which I then tried porting to Garry’s Mod. The model ported and is usable in game, but the texture doesn’t show up, instead being the default pink and black tiles. Any advice?

just saying textures don’t show up won’t help us much.

I understand it’s probably something really obvious, but this is my first attempt at both modelling and porting the model. Sorry.

the .vmt is in garrysmod\garrysmod\materials\models\sanford and I believe it is called sanford_texture.vmt

Looking at it, I’d say that your issue is probably in the VMT.

I assume both the VTF and VMT are in materials/models/sanford.

The VMT is instead looking for materials/models/sanford.vtf as opposed to materials/models/sanford/sanford.vtf.

One more thing. Your SMD is searching for a material called Sanford not sanford_texture.

As a last thing, I recommend you do a find and replace on your SMD and replace all instances of Sanford with Sanford.tga, .dds or .vtf or whatever. The compiler sometimes get finnicky when no filytype is included. (don’t worry, it gets striped anyway, so only the name not the type is important)

I have made changes to the VMT, although I am unsure about the other 2 changes. How would I do both of these?
