So I drag and dropped an image onto a box in 3ds max 2012 and exported it as a 3ds file. When I import that 3ds file in Blender the image (texture) doesn’t show up, it’s just a blank mesh.
I’ve tried converting the image to tga(from jpg), dropping it in 3ds max, and exporting it that way, but again the image does not show up in Blender.
Something else I noticed is that 3ds max renames my image file when I export it as 3Ds. Something about bitmaps, it does this for both the tga and jpg files.
