v_model (css/hl2 hev) hands question.

I have seen people use the css or hl2 hev hands for their own custom v_models.

Were did they get them?
Did they extract it?

I want to know because I do not want to remodel a hand for just one model when there is a higher poly/ better version available.

You have to extract it. I suggest you look up some tutorials on decompiling and working with Source.

Is there an .smd/.mdl(?) importer for blender?

or any support at all for blender?

I’m making a v_model hand at the moment. It’s about half way done.


As for blender:

I already have the exporter.
I just need an importer, but I found one on the valve wiki.

So are you going to release those hands as an .smd? They look very cool :smiley:

I guess I’ll just make a v_model without hands, Portal style :smiley:

ha yeh probably will.

don’t waist your time extracting them. you have the smds in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps*yourusername*\sourcesdk_content\hl2\modelsrc\weapons\v_hands
