Wanting to learn how to skin props etc

I am wanting to learn how to make my own model skins and add them onto gmod.
Can anyone teach me how to?

  1. What basic software should I get to make the skins
  2. How should I save the skins and where?
  3. Do I add the skins I made over a previous skinned prop?
  4. Can I make my own player model?
  5. How do I make a model?
  6. What software to make the model should I use?
  7. Where do I save the model?

Please just give me the basics for making my own models and re-skinning props etc.

  1. Photoshop if you can, otherwise I think The GIMP might suffice.
  2. The proper materials directory (don’t know how else to say it)
  3. You can, or you can hex
  4. Yeah, but it’s harder than just skinning.
  5. There are plenty of modeling programs, but I don’t know all of them, or which is the best. I use the Propper plugin for Source SDK, but it can’t do detailed stuff like ragdolls.
  6. -see 5-
  7. The proper models directory

Alright well what if I want to make a model of a gun? Like reskin a gun? What program do I use for that.
Should I make a new folder in my garrysmod/garrysmod file that says something like MySkins?
Any sites you think I should visit for a good tutorial for Nubz like me?
