What is the maximum props you can spawn in the Source engine?

I was bored and spawning hundreds maybe a few thousand explosive barrels frozen and welded and then I got this hl2.exe error window saying no free eddicts or something like that and it wasn’t lagging, it was running smoothly at 60fps.

So is there a source limit or is it my computer?

Spec:
Win 7 64bit
Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz
8GB DDR3
GeForce GT 230

All settings at max.

I managed to spawn 1800 props, 1600-1800 of the props didn’t weld, then I clicked again for 1900 barrels and it crashed.
