Will lightmap scale effect in game performance?

Would setting, say, about 1/4 of a maps surfaces to a lightmap scale of 8 effect in game performance at all?

I know it will certainly effect compile time, that’s not a big deal, but I’m just trying got keep this map relatively easy to run.

It causes more memory to be used, so yes.

I haven’t noticed any performance problems even with a scale of 4. It will make the map’s filesize bigger though.

If the filesize is HUGE older computers may not have enough memory to run it, so like Max said - minimal effect unless a lightmap scale of 1 everywhere.
