RP_LITTLETOWN_v2

Description**
RP_Littletown is a medium sized roleplay map. It is very green to create a idyllic atmosphere. All ambient sounds include birds and some distant cars.
There is enough space for shops or hide-outs, so there is no shortage of space.
The underground gives the player an dark, unwelcome and creepy feeling; showing him the nice towns dark side.

(planned) changes to Version 1**

  • new apartments in new enterable buildings (less non-enterable buildings)
  • all apartments on ground floor level removed
  • radiators added in most rooms
  • music volume in shops decreased a lot
  • music toggleable
  • background sounds are less loud
  • new industrial buildings for building
  • big square warehouse at canal was scaled down a bit
  • shops in BNL scaled down to half size, removed all shelves
  • trying to remove fake doors/make them visible as fake doors
  • realistic door sizes (about 1m wide, 2m high)
  • new city hall
  • police department moved to location of old city hall
  • underground a bit expanded
  • underground a bit simplifed
  • trying to solve problems with own ambient sound scripts
  • updated window models

I know, besides those points people want more and more and more enterable buildings. Due the size/detail count of this map I am absolutely running into trouble opening more buildings. I try my best there.
Another point is filesize. No, I can’t and won’t reduce it. It will increase! Quality has it’s price. Some “Littletown lite” version would be unbeliveable ugly and monotonous. If you want that, okay, but don’t blame me all the uniqueness of this map will be lost.

Most pictures reflect a work-in-progress state. Some of them are already outdated as you can see.

Thats general historism architecture. This was used in whole Europe, not just in Germany.

I thought the first map was absolutely gorgeous, but this really takes it up to another level!!

One thing I really love about that map is the lighting. It is done so beautifully, I hope you can continue that in your version.

From what I heard from other players, the main reason of lack of popularity of this map isn’t caused by the filesize, but low framerate. Especially in that huge open area with the canal.
You have to keep in mind that people are going to use large amounts of props for RP, quickly lowering the framerate in a scene. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you manage to do something about it, it’ll sure get a lot more used.

I can and already ever wanted to do it. I just didn’t had any motivation to do so, because this map isn’t/wasn’t used that much :wink:

Littletown would look absolutely gorgeous at night, especially along the canal!

I just changed one canal end on Littletown a lot.

Any chance of the map having proper day/night cycle support? I’ve seen amazing maps do it (industrial17 for example) better than I’d ever thought possible. I know I was all about smaller filesizes with the last one, but with more enter-able buildings and all these new planned features, this could really compete with the other few successful, huge maps.

I’d love to have something other than evocity to look forward to that’s not a HL2 style map or weird, blocky evocity/downtown edit. Very excited for this, excellent looking map.

Day and night sounds great, I think people would appreciate it.

Maybe an admin room to change settings like day/night cycle, window resplendent etc.

The brick textures on the building with the flags seem a bit flat and overly clean imo.
