wust wont work

i downloaded rust and when i hit play on steam it gives me two options, one option is play one is play old version. if i hit play a small window pops up that says “rust.exe not responding”. this is very frustrating and i need some help. i have tried running in admin mode, running in compatibility mode, re installing, verifying, and probably something else.

my specs:
OS - Windows 7
Processor: intel core i5-3210M cpu @ 2.5ghz
ram: 6gb
graphics: intel HD graphics 4000

i have a inspiron 5720

Your graphics is most likley the problem.
