Xwad problem

So affair in this:
Created a batch file to convert textures.

cd "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe"
xwad.exe -BaseDir E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\materialsrc\ -WadFile "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\czero\czde_canal.wad" -vtex

When i’m try to start to convert textures - provides this.

E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin>cd "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe"
Invalid specified folder name.

E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin>xwad.exe -BaseDir E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\materialsrc -WadFile E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\czero\czde_canal.wad -vtex

[WADFILE E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\czero\czde_canal.wad]

!DARKWATER"E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike" is no internal or external
command, operable program or batch file.

************ ERROR ************
Command 'E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\vtex.exe -quiet -nopause "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike\materialsrc\czde_canal\!DARKWATER.tga"' failed!

Press a key to quit.

Please tell me how to fix this error.

they way i do it is make a folder in C: called hl1 then make a shortcut of xwad.exe and move it to the hl1 folder then add to the target line -basedir C:\hl1 -wadfile C:\hl1\czde_canal.wad so it looks like “C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe” -basedir C:\hl1 -wadfile C:\hl1\czde_canal.wad then i use vtfedit to convert the .tga’s to vtf’s putting them in the materials folder xwad.exe created

i delete -vtex from .bat file.

cd "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe"
xwad.exe -BaseDir E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\materialsrc\ -WadFile "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\czero\czde_canal.wad"

thats return it.

E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin>cd "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe"

E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin>xwad.exe -BaseDir E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\materialsrc\ -WadFile "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\czero\czde_canal.wad"

but textures in .tga not created. daебать is that.

should it be cd "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\ instead of cd “E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe”
so the cmd looks like

nope. .tga no create.

try doing it with a shortcut to the xwad.exe

it’s still works with that .bat file

cd "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\xwad.exe"
xwad.exe -BaseDir C:\hl1 -WadFile "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\czero\czde_canal.wad"

when you run the cmd you should get a materials folder and a materialssrc folder in the materials folder you should have .vmt files and in the materialssrc folder a load of .tga files, you need to use VTFedit to convert the .tga’s to .VTF , what your saying is there no .tga’s being created ??

nope. thats fully works.
i have materials forder with .vmt and materialsrc folder with .tga
as next step i’m use batch convert .tga to .vtf

when you convert them make sure the .vtf’s are version 7.5 any lower and csgo will not display them correctly

i use 7.4 for csgo.

kk but ithink 7.5 would be better

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin"
xwad.exe -BaseDir "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo" -WadFile "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\cstrike_downloads\aim_ruined.wad"

You need to Quote the DIR after -BaseDir and -Wadfile

I think they solved this issue 5 years later you know…
