It makes me think you think that the moon landing is fake.
Sorry if I misread what you said, but It really does look that way.
His main point was that Joe kowtows to an alt-right audience because he talks to Alex Jones. My point was that is unlikely considering he so frequently brings on super liberal guests, which leaves little room for an alt-right audience. I can also say for certain the alt-right actually despise him and think he's a shill. So whatever partisan label you try to put on him just doesn't really fit. He's definitely a bit of a libertarian, but is so clearly mostly a left-leaning liberal that any accusation of him being some sort of gateway to right-wing ideologies is simply laughable. As for rarely bringing opposition to guests, you should skim through the video in the OP. He has to constantly challenge Alex because of how ridiculously wild his words are. As for his motivations, he's a comedian first and foremost so it is very likely that his main goal is to entertain, but that is obviously not always the case such as with guests like Hamilton Morris where it was purely informative through and through.
This wraps up what I failed to succinctly say in my initial posts. I may have been harsh in my wording, but I don't really get why so many people misinterpreted it(other than Sam who is clearly arguing in bad faith), my overall point was pretty clear.
Yes, let's take the word "argue" at it's literal definition when you (should) clearly know what I meant. You keep poking in with a worthless snipe, and fail to follow up just like Tudd used to do.
Case 1:
Me - "Joe Rogan is unintentionally a tool of the alt-right"
You - "This is Alex Jones level of insanity right here"
Case 2:
Raidyr(in response to Dok saying Alex Jones doesn't influence alt-right people) - "Can't see how you are so confident that Alex Jones doesn't influence people in alt-right/traditional right circles."
You - "Alright I'm ready, what makes Alex Jones altright?"
Another example of you poking in, asking us to do the work when you made the original claim, and dipping out. You claimed Alex Jones wasn't alt-right, Raidyr refuted, and you asked Raidyr to provide evidence, without providing your own evidence. You've established a pattern of laziness, so why should anyone even respond to you?
Bearded funny man and bald funny man and pictures on arm funny man make me laugh haha
Joe isnt responsible for stupid people doing stupid things because he has conversations with (arguably) stupud people. Everyone calls him a shill for (insert political party) because he's capable of empathizing with another persons perspective.
If people are influenced into the alt right because of Alex, theyd be destined to that camp regardless.
Providing this vapid backdrop for the sake of spectacle and internet ad revenue isn't empathizing. If people are influenced at all because of this show it's because he provides no critical insights, no narrative challenges to his interviews. He's just some grunting, stoned asshole that you can relax to and get validation from at the sametime. Of course people are going to be influenced by this and if they're not then it's because that's why they're there in the first place.
On a more personal level I just think Joe Rogan's just some fuckin bro guy who lets his lameass dorito-tier personal brand and political apathy smooth the ideological sine wave for his guests and his boring ass audience and there's nothing less likeable in my book.
I think differences of opinion on things like tax policy, gun rights, or the most recent Star Wars movies, is something I'd call "disagreement." Publicly accusing the parents of slaughtered children of being actors on your radio show and causing them to be harrassed, on the other hand, is something I'd consider a pretty good sign that someone isn't deserving of the most basic level of respect, much less friendship.
I would say that Joe does try to understand other people's perspectives in his interviews. It sounds like you take issue with the format of the show but I think it's made pretty clear in some interviews.
You're making pretty obtuse assumptions about the motivations of both Joe and his audience as well. "People are going to be influenced by this and if not it's because that's why they're there in the first place" - can you please explain this?
You've made an incredibly emotional post and I'm sorry but I don't really see the point you're trying to make.
My point is that Joe Rogan is just another dismal pop personality who invites other dismal pop personalities to sell their personal brand or idea and fill your head with shit and waste your time.
You'd really hope that's the case. However, did you see the comments on the video? It's almost entirely people praising and agreeing with Alex Jones, with hundreds of upvotes. I'm not really convinced that uplifting and giving a platform to such baseless and ignorant views does more good than bad. It's not like Rogan is challenging him very strongly either, so Alex comes off as more credible to more impressionable viewers. My views aren't exactly concrete on this, and I'd love to hear others' opinions.
I don't know how a guy who constantly goes on about how he wants free healthcare, free education, and numerous other socialist talking points is actually a super redpilled alt right lunatic just because you say so
I guarantee you everyone commenting was someone that came into the situation already predisposed to liking Jones. Of course he has a fan base - infowars had a lot of subscribers before it got kicked off youtube (bad idea imo).
How does one become an infowars fan? Are they born that way? I don't understand how we can "guarantee" that no fans are ever created from infowars content, and why it's always a static pool of the same people
I was hooked as soon as the psychic vampires started sucking the blood from our children at political cocktail parties.
Pretty hardcore fan after that.
weren't you literally a 9/11 truther
No need for past tense.
This is amazing

I'd watch a show about Alex Jones and Eddie Bravo trying to find the end of the earth.
The fucking blank look after Joe asked if Alex still needed to pee. I'm convinced he peed his pants a little or it just evaporated from his rage.
a free market place of ideas evidently doesn't work though. Exorbitant media coverage of radical-right populist nativist politicians and their platforms increases support for those politicians, for example. I'm pretty sure this effect can be extended to a lot of other topics as well, like the anti-vaccine movement.
a guy as batshit insane as Alex Jones might not cause much harm, but I think Joe Rogan has definitely had seemingly 'credible' guests on his show that have caused harm by being on there
I mean, if Joe cares anything about liberal democracy he should probably be more careful with this stuff

Funnily enough the Chinese Embassy in Sydney which currently is currently next door to a baby nursery, rehabilitation clinic and child care center is moving location in a couple weeks.
after 4 days the perfect reply finally popped into my head

If I recall correctly, they are good friends. It wouldn't be right to disown a friend.
There's over 7 billion people in this world, and most of them are much better people that more deserving of loyalty than Alex Jones.
I'd disown anyone who harasses the parents of children shot with weapons meant for a war zone. I'd give them a good bit of grief as well.
This is why I despise this guy.
The fact this man who has launched a hate campaign against the mourning parents of dead kids and has spent years spewing lies and peddles scams on his website while serving as a gateway to right wing extremism for young kids is seen as anything but a complete cunt who shouldn't be given a platform.
This man is pure cancer. The fact some people here think anyone who wants him to go away is just a PC baby who hates opposing views is sad as hell. I guess it's fine to do whatever you want including unleashing your shit head fans on mourning parents is okay as long as you make people laugh and act like a complete retard on video. This man does not deserve to be rewarded for his shit.
