Nipper Func_Vehicle maps were the shit.
This is such a weird sensation. I remember when I was just discovering one of my favorite artists' music, I was exploring a new gmod map and now when I recall the song I was listening to, I recall the places I went in that map.
You'll never be 12 years old again playing your favorite online game with your friends on your regular server and watching dumb gmod videos/machinimas without any kind of worry or stress in the world
I miss you TF2 and surf #13

I used to visit the Minecraft world for that a podcast i liked hosted. That was about ~2011.
I remember being hype for Oblivion's release, seeing it in all the magazines, just how awesome it looked, gosh that was so long ago now.
The fuckin' Two Best Friends title-card popping up... Too soon, man, too soon!
I have the transaction ID, since we had to access the old version of paypal it was a bit of a pain, but we got it. So since I have proof of purchase, I think Mojang will help me out.
Hopefully <3
I miss my Xbox friends.
Shame I disappeared on them.
I knew nothing about the Elder Scrolls -series, until I got Morrowind bundled with a graphics card and played the SHIT out of it. I also got really hyped for Oblivion when it was announced and that NPC-trailer filled with lies was shown.
I was 22 when Minecraft was playable for the first time, I got no nostalgia for that.
I think my nostalgia dates back to like 2000. Oblivion doesn't make me nostalgic at all for example, I just remember being super-hyped for it. Operation Flashpoint does fill me with nostalgia, I remember playing the shit out of it with my friend over LAN, making impossible missions and later filling them with insane mods.

Didn't this map have a hidden porn room

Time to download the map and play it again.
God, it's crazy to think that most of the "annoying squealer kids" that grew up with Minecraft when it came out are now young adults. Makes me feel fucking old even though I'm only in my late 20s.
Seriously. My late teens (when Minecraft was out for me) still feel like they just happened yesterday in some respects, so to have people telling me they feel nostalgic for Minecraft and Skyrim when they came out when I was a young adult just feels so strange.
Nostalgia here is attaching thrusters to everything and crying laughing, making fugly, hilarious fullbright maps, circa 2009 pictures of my cousin and I when we put both our computers together with three monitors and downloaded a portal screensaver....
and goofy HL2 mods, like Suicide Survival.
And lots and lots and lots of The Sims 2.
Yes it did. SOme of the later versions of mario_kart had a giant hollow "?" block with a picture of humanoid GLaDOS force-feeding cake to Chell. I remember I used to always set up a teleporter base in the porn room whenever I lucked out with noclip on !rtd.
It had that but also admins had a button they could noclip to that would change it to pure hardcore porn
I am a college grad whos going to move out soon. I remember being in middle school watching that original trailer.
The hype train on here was one of my favourite times here, from the announcement to the very end, it was so much fun.
The launch day where everyone was brimming with glee and organising VPN trades via PMs to help each other play it early is burned into my mind still.
It's interesting that the internet now has a legitimate history to be nostalgic about given that youtube did not even fucking exist before 2005, or atleast not publically.
I'll say one thing for sure, I prefer you guys as adults than when you were COD kids.
Imagine being a cod kid, halo hood unite
Really didn't need this thread but I read all of it and now it all hurts
If this was just to make me cry you made that happen.

I remember watching the 2010 VGA Awards here and the thread dedicated to it went crazy when the teaser trailer was shown and Todd walked onstage. God, that was an amazing time.
I remember hearing this and loving it. It portrayed such a human loss to the resonance cascade and it really felt like they were going to take the game in that direction too. Sadly they changed and went for a more upbeat direction in both musical score and game.
I heard so much about Oblivion through Cheat!(the G4 show) and whatever I scrounged looking through Google images that it was a dream goal of mine to play it.
I ended up spending a summer vacation out of town in a place where I had no friends except one cousin my age who would visit occasionally, and I stumbled upon the game of the year edition of Oblivion for the 360 at the local rental store where I'd rent games any time I visited and begged my dad to buy it for me.
I spent the whole summer playing the game in the attic/upstairs room of our house, with no guide book or internet help.
It's one of the most fondest memories of my childhood

Damn, I remember it being 2009 or 2010 and searching everywhere for a copy of Oblivion for the Xbox 360 after reading about the Elder Scrolls series in a magazine.
Since this was before the Skyrim hype and the 5th anniversary edition they weren't releasing new copies, so you could only get it preowned.
One day I check the EB games website and they had a preowned copy at a store near me.
I call them and they tell me that they can't find the game and I was super disappointed.
I keep checking their website hoping another copy will show up soon, but it only shows up at stores which are too far away.
Then one weekend, I check their website and they have a copy at a store near me.
I called them immediately and got them to hold it for me.
My dad drove me to the shop and I paid $21 Australian dollars for it. It didn't even have the original cover or manual, just the disc, but I didn't care. I was so happy to finally have the game.
