Which of the other two aren't? I already addressed this like 15 times. The people complaining about the "grind" praised two other games for the exact same framework and pace.
What two other games? There have been a number of games mentioned in this thread.
Would you purchase a $30 8-10 hour singleplayer game that was well crafted, straightforward, and with no "live service" attributes? I would.
yeah those used to cost $60
I think we are on the brink of another video game market crash. Not as big as the one in the 80s, but enough to kick the asses of AAA companies.
He's not really arguing length though here. The live service is the main point. Just using AC:Origins for a personal example. The challenge the gods event that was padded over the weeks was just annoying, having to wait X amount of time to play some extra content Level was rather important because enemies that were higher level had an insane boost compared to if you were the same level. The plus side is the sidequests were generally OK in origins and honestly easily my favorite AC game so I was always within the level to do any story I wanted. Sure it sucks for people that want to just experience the story of the game and I can 100% understand that as a criticism as it's quite a decently lengthy game if you did sidequests.
Fingers crossed.
Technically yes but its only a problem if you mainline story content and ignore most of the sidequests and exploration aspects of the game, as well as the constant stream of optional generated quests the game throws at you that can passively be completed by just going around the world and doing shit, like "kill 40 spartan soldiers". I won't say that people shouldn't be allowed to just go through the story first, but the game simply isn't designed to accommodate it. How much of a problem that is for people is subjective I guess.
I hit a major, major slow down around levels 8-20. The game really draws that segment out, and makes it more difficult or punishing than need be, especially on hard. You're basically railroaded into doing sidequests and other shit just to advance and keep pace with the story for those levels. After that, it evens out, but that part of the game is in my opinion, a fucking slog.
A singleplayer game in the style of the Golden Age of Mass Effect, run as a "Games as a Service" subscription. Run by a trustworthy and dedicated developer. Taking input from the players. Developing new story content in a living world. I'd fucking lose my shit and never play anything else again. Just imagine playing ME 1, 2 then the best parts of 3, go on the developer's page and see "Hey, we took your ideas and here's in-depth questline #292 coming in, the Reapers took over this quadrant of the galaxy, with all that entails" In my opinion that would be the ideal game, or at least the ideal platform for a game. Constant crowdsourced (by genuine fans) development
My dream game is an MMO in the same vein as Star Citizen but with a Star Trek/Mass Effect bend to it. I want to space truck on the Sunny Philly and cause mayhem.
