In 2012, Dr. Steve Mann was allegedly assaulted at a McDonald's in Paris,
France after refusing to remove his glasses. The problem? The glasses
are an augmented reality headset that is physically installed into his
skull. Was this the world's first ever cybernetic hate crime?
Tbh if I saw a fuckin nerd wearing some dorky shit like that I'd probably give him a wedgie.
Imagine being so desperate for clickbait content that you dredge up a mundane 7 year old news story and make a video about it.
Is there any reason to actually watch this video? I skipped through it quickly and I feel like I got enough information out of it, and it lasted about 12 seconds like that.
I mean this video is pretty much digging up old controversy for clicks.
But on the other hand, the actual incident was fucked up. A McDonald's employee who thinks he's recording their menu tries to rip off the glasses which are attached to his skull. When he shows them his note from the doctor of why he's wearing it, they crumple it and rip it apart and throws him out, in front of his wife and children.
Well, I’m for sorry for that Ontario [and maybe closet Transhumanist] professor for this mess several years ago, but again why they just go inside to any Fast food place like McDonald’s; instead just send his wife to asking the manager about her husband cybernetic implant, before giving the approval to go ahead, and let this happen get in easily without this ‘persecution’ taking place.
And they maybe know better to be expected their privacy rules that exists, and maybe the paranoia of having of completion from French fast food joints .
This is late, but can I just say how angry it makes me that nothing ever came out of this?
Add “pissing off cyborgs” to the long list of bullshit that McDonald’s has gotten away with.
