What happened now that we're talking about being axed again?
anyone remember stupid07er? Did he end up surviving?
Not much, it's just that the forums are breaking at the seams and is largely unfinished, garry doesn't care nor want to fix it, and is not communicating. If anything Garry is gonna show up, and do some massive weird changes like merging polidicks and sensationalist headlines, putting games section in general or some other weird stuff. People will point out it's stupid and he'll throw a hissy fit and delete the forums.
I remember when the site was down for several days and I still typed in "facepunch" into my address bar out of instinct. I'd somehow forget it was gone each time. That was only a few days, I don't wanna do that again, let alone forever.
Ah, same here but I kept clicking my facepunch bookmark even though I knew it wouldn't work. It was so bizarre. I'd do it without even realizing it.

14 years of barely posting and lurking, yet visiting every damn day after work. The possibility of FP closing feels worse than it should. Fuck.
This place has been my go-to for ages now, my filter for the internet. Although I haven't been active in any internet community in a long time, Facepunch has been a lovely thing to use as a homebase for the internet. I haven't found anywhere with as much character.
So it turns out a few days ago, I've literally spent over half my life being part of this forum. Even though I basically just lurk and only visit the same 2 threads, it was nice to be part of something while it lasted.
This shit shutting down? Dang, I gotta say this the community got toxic, but always was a bit toxic. But that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to exist. This place is kinda special to me cause it was the first forum I actually stuck with, and got permabanned from like 40 times, like for real that's pretty damn awesome, and I kinda miss being able to read people's event logs, cause shit my rapsheet was huge. Also the content here was different than most of the internet cause this place actually had OC, obviously a shitton of reposts, but not curated reposts like reddit where OC stagnates. It's honestly sad to me how forums are dying out and being replaced with the rise to the top of the shit pile of social media that every site is doing now. Also I gotta hit 6969 posts before this place claps out.
Thankfully we have an actual FPer selling legit FP patches now.
In comparison to other shitholes on the Internet, Facepunch is a nice place to be in. I've been here for over ten years (mind you I don't spend any of my time in polidicks) and I've always appreciated our lack of xenophobia, racism and general socially unacceptable shit. There are a few exceptions but I've pretty much grown up here and turned out mostly okay, I guess that's a decent indicator.
Out of stock
@badgerhound I think you might have a few more takers on the FP patches.
I keep a Facepunch sticker on my wallet!
I hate this. Not the video but the fact that this is where we're at. This dump has been a constant for a long time. Really blows that we're probably gonna lose it. Knockout is great, but we'll lose a lot more people than we did when we left the old forums.

If you really care for it, it will live on in you.
My '07 account may not be around anymore, but the memories still do. 12 years in this place... I miss the smartness and the auto-bans. Or even the icon of the most ratings you had received next to your name. Anyone remember the YOU'RE GOING TO GET BANNED sign on thread creation? I was so terrified of that message I just noped it outta there every time.
Holy fuck I was the guy who made the "Controversial figure Tudd Fudders appointed Moderator on Facepunch" thread. I wrote an article based off an interview I did with him and several other other users on him right after April fools on Polidicks. i feel so famous I swear to god if Facepunch shuts down and all the memories like that are gone I'm just... Life won't be the same without it.
Is FP truly going down any time soon? If so, will there be any warning? I hate all this uncertainty.
It's the hive mind that bothers me. If you go against the hive mind, you're some sort of pariah.
If you're referring to extremely one-sided dumb showers, that usually happens when people suck at articulating their thoughts well. I've seen post ratings on threads swap for completely contradictory opinions all the time, it's more about not shitposting than conforming to the hive mind IMO.
Even though I was pretty late to the party, creating my original Facepunch Account in 2010, I have enjoyed every second of being on this wonderful and amazing forum. On no other forum have I seen such a community of passionate people that love to horse around, create wonderful art/videos/mods, spread injokes and legends of famous figures (does anyone else miss tropsical guy?), help eachother out, respectfully discuss topics with eachother, and most importantly shitpost. When I joined this forum I probably dragged down the collective IQ of this forum with how rock stupid I was (and probably still am!), every post I made was a shitpost. I was lucky that "smartness" wasn't implemented at that time because I probably would have gotten banned on the spot I sincerely apologize to all of you who had to witness any of the posts I posted under "cfl565656". The (rightful) asskicking by other users I got for how I was posting taught me something about Facepunch that has really made me respect it, the fact that the website has standards. A lot of forums are run by moderators who often abuse their power, or populated by users who run rampant without much moderation. Contrary to all the jokes made about how much banning goes on, I think Facepunch always seemingly tried to be this middle ground that lets you express your opinion if you articulate yourself well; and I seriously have to thank all the moderators over the years for doing a good job to uphold that standard. Despite the fact that my original account posted so horribly, I was never truly permabanned which I think speaks volumes to the fairness and integrity of the mods when it comes down to it. Another thing that I think has made the forum such a nice place to visit is the community. If you post poorly and make an absolute buffoon out of yourself, will you be laughed at and be made fun of for your posts? Yea, pretty much. But I think that once you join the forums and start posting at an acceptable standard, you find a community that is actually really sincere and loving; the kinda guys who will actually give you the beer they owed you. Users often apologize for going too far in an argument, the community has banded together to meet up IRL as well as play online games together, and of course we can't forget the many inside jokes, forum events(remember the security camera/CCTV in Garry Newman's office? I'm sure Subway does! ) and infamous posts that linger on in the hearts and minds of Facepunchers across the globe (what cat? ) All of this combined with the fact that most Facepunchers have their roots in source games like GMod, Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead, and the like give Facepunch this great sense of togetherness that not many other internet communities can replicate. Looking at how many people want commemorative merch (yes please, me too!), I would say we all wear our gas masks proudly; no matter where you are in the world, no matter what race or gender you are, and no matter when you joined the forums. And after this long winded explanation, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you to Garry for creating the mod and the forums that lives in the fond memories of so so many. Thank you (again) to all the mods for keeping the place clean and shitpost free. Thank you to all the people who organized meetups and hosted servers for Facepunch; you guys rock for doing us such a service and you are invaluable to Facepunch's community as a whole. Thank you to the silent lurkers who bring traffic and interest to the site. And thank you to all the posters on Facepunch. Even though I regrettably lurked for most of my Facepunch career, you guys made my days and nights with your great threads and replies. I can only hope at least one of my silly posts made the same impact on some of you. I love you all and I am going to sincerely miss seeing everyone on here when this wonderful place eventually drifts away from us. Here's some videos I drudged up from my "Watch Later" that I personally think encapsulate the site well: A serious heartfelt tribute to oldpunch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJrGLXafl3s and and an "excursion to OIFY" :wow: Warning: N-word is dropped and there is a lot of cursing, don't watch it at work! And may you forever stay with us in our hearts.

FP dying won't be an end, it'll just be the beginning of something new
When it started, I thought it was this song, which would be equally fitting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-tAiOVMYFY And while we're at it, more thread music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3KEhWTnWvE
