"The one thing we can say, we will have a good amount of clans in the main game that are really interesting, but we'll support it with more clans after launch," said Christian Schlütter, lead producer at Paradox. "And one thing that you need to write down is that every clan that we release later on will be free. We will never charge you for any clan."
This just gets better and better
I hope they don't use that as an excuse to water down the differences between the clan's. Playing a Malk and a Nosferatu would completely change the game and how you would need to play it in the original and even when you were one of the other Clan's there was a lot of flavor text throughout the world that made it feel like you were a part of that clan, in how you would act and how the different clans would react to you.
I just hope they don't choose quantity overt quality.
Is there anything about Nosferatu in the first game that's different besides the fact you have to avoid humans a lot? Never actually done a Nos playthrough before.
A lot of dialogue can change for certain clans. Typically anytime you speak with someone who's the same clan as you you get different introductions and such, but a Malkavian and Nosferatu will have new lines for almost everyone.
You get more blood from rats and bums, but you can't get buy/seduce any prostitutes or blood dolls.
Also persuasion isn't an option in most human conversations, so you're often forced to sneak/fight your way through certain situations and find back doors to places like Lacroix's tower
Try rereading the post again.
Here's the feature list so far from the Steam Page.

Oh god I really hope they nail the dialogue for Malkavians, they're easily my favourite clan, their dialogue is one of the best parts about Bloodlines.
DMC and Bloodlines are back which confirms we're living in the best timeline.
I'm not so sure about that when Tim Sweeney is doing what he's doing with Epic Games.
Every good story needs a good villain.
And elongated sound of disgust is all I can muster as a response.
Imagine if they let you side with the Sabbat or play as some of their affiliated end times cult clans. As a thin blood, your character would be prime Panders recruiting material.
Hope there's a kill everyone option. I want Vampire New Vegas.
Is he the one that voiced Romero, the graveyard owner with a zombie problem? I'll never forget how I felt a little worried when he told me to avoid getting bitten. I asked him if I'd become a zombie and he said "Nah, it just hurts like a bitch."
Nice to know it's in safe hands, that guy being back on board then is a very, very good thing.
Yeah thats him.
If I remember correctly they originally wanted to do that in the first one was let you be Sabbat.
It'd be nice to have a few unique avenues for low humanity characters, interactions or an alternate story path with the Sabbat for a low humanity character would be fitting and within the scope of the game.
Given the description that you were "formed in the act of vampire terrorism" being of Lasombra or Tzimisce bloodline as an antitribu would be a possible, but given the need for so much extra dialogue I'd be really surprised if those were playable races.
I like the Sabbat but i think for a straight up evil option, i'd like the followers of set even more.
Also, since you're supposed to be a thin-blood, it'd be cool to join the assamites or some other pro-human/anti-vampire clan
what clans will be available?
iirc the options were woefully limited. and what about customization?
They mentioned Malkavian will be available. There appears to be 5-6 slots for playable clans in the basegame. They did surprisingly comment that there will be future clans available that will be added as free dlc, which is surprising coming from Paradox.
It's my understanding from the lore that Malkavians aren't actually even insane, they just have insight into the world that no one else has that makes them come of as crazy to the average person.
Oh shit, it's in seattle, and it deals with the rising tech industry
Honestly, this is a problem I think more people should be aware of, this tech boom is making it so people who have lived in this city for years suddenly can't afford to
Their minds are utterly shattered. There's no way they're 'sane' even if their symptoms (which vary hugely from Malk to Malk) might match the hallmarks of certain types of psychosis, insanity or mental illness. This state of mind is caused by their clans heritage, and many are gifted with odd insights and powers of prophecy that are incredibly inconsistent and unreliable. All Malkavians are passively connected to one-another via a nebulous means of telepathy theorised to be called the Malkavian Madness Network. Some believe that it's through this that Malkavians acquire knowledge they wouldn't otherwise know. They can't actively 'tap into' the network and it's incredibly hard to intentionally transmit across it, but other Malkavians are always broadcasting and receiving fragments of oneanothers insanity and insight.
I can't be too certain in saying this, but: all of the major plot points from bloodlines1 seem be blessed/cursed with uncanny divination.. Very interesting to think that they just share raw, fragmented experience through their own clan.. Was every [deciphered] message from a malkavian in the first game merely an observation aggregated from such a network? Or is proper divination also a possiblity with their accursed bloodline?
Proper divination is a possibility, but it's very inconsistent. You couldn't ask a Malkavian "should I do this?" and get a clear answer that's backed up by divination and clairvoyancy. The Malkavian PC in Bloodlines is noted as being incredibly crazy, even by the standards of Therese and Jeanette, who have multiple-personality disorder. The PC is constantly referring to events yet to come, and highlighting plot points and NPCs in a way that only makes sense retroactively, or with a great deal of thought. It's not clear if the PC is aware that they're prophesying and predicting the future or not.
Every PC in Bloodlines (whatever clan they are) is inherently a little bit bullshit in many ways in either case. My memory may be rather off in this case, but in Vampire there's this concept called Generations, which is how far removed (and diluted your blood is) from Caine, the first Vampire. Higher Generations (9+) are far weaker than lower generations (vampires with a closer lineage). And Vampires with a lower generation are typically far more powerful, and can be entirely immune to certain Disciplines from higher generation Vampires. The only way to lower your generation is through diablerie, exsanguinating and absorbing the soul of a vampire. However, you start the game as a new-blood, but by the end of the game (within the space of a week or so, the timeframe of the game is iffy) you can entirely ignore the effects of LaCroix's domination discipline, even though earlier in the game you're susceptible to it.
The leading fan theory is that the cab-driver who takes you from level to level is Cain himself. The Malkavian PC seems to be aware of this and on first meeting the cabbie starts screaming "oh no it's you, let me out let me out aaaaah". While you drive from level to level, Cain is believed to be lowering your generation which explains who you become so fucking powerful in the space of a few nights.
better have that chick with the dual personalities because the twin tails chick is hot
cara ellison judging by her past work and her social media strikes me as an individual who does not even remotely belong near this game, but i have faith in brian and chris that she's onboard for an actually good reason.
ironically the "professional" side of janus is the most fucked up in the head.. unless that's your thing
