With all the shit EA has been getting lately, I figured I would share an old trailer for Battlefield 3, back when DICE still had the magic. I remember watching this with my friends and being blown away.

I completely forgot that ear rape at the end was an actual thing that was approved.
Every now and then I go back to watch the old trailers, they really are great for selling the fantasy.
Say what you will about the "wubs", but this song was great

played bf3 last night and it was really fun
You guys can go back to it, it's not totally dead. Hell, people are getting back to the good battlefields. Revival projects keep popping up, the first server I joined when getting back to BF3 a few weeks ago had actually just started hosting a few hours before I joined it.
The playerbase isn't dead, just moved around.
I love this trailer because of the placeholder minimap icons where all the vehicles show up as tanks
Probably one of the best battlefields
BF2 was and always will be my favorite Battlefield.

These were all made by one guy that DICE hired right? Up until Battlefield 1?
Battlefield 3 was good, not super awesome.
First game to introduce the $60 premium DLC, basically season pass, thing.
Not to mention this is also the game where DICE would ban you for using a simple graphics tweak to remove the blue filter.
Also had to deal with the server browser actually being in your browser.
I'm still of the opinion that the Battlefield series should have ended with the Legacy Operations for Battlefield 4. It was the perfect send off to the franchise and a heartfelt tribute to how good the series used to be.
The updated Dragon Valley was so damn good. It was a real testament to how powerful map design is in creating gameplay. It was still just vanilla BF4, but the way the map is designed and played felt so much like classic Battlefield. It’s an incredible counterpoint to what Battlefield had become, and an amazing showcase of what it used to be. While BF1942 and BF2 will always be the best in my heart, end of life BF4 following the DICE LA takeover makes a strong argument for the best Battlefield game of all time. LA really understood what made the series special.

bf2 is still an amazing game for me. it's so incredible that a game from that time could feel and look so good.
It's a shame that EA ended up leaving it in the dirt mostly, but 2142 is probably one of the best games in the series. It took BF2 and pretty much eliminated the faults and issues it had to form what became the modern series today.
Just a shame they never quite got TItan mode working 100% as it meant you couldn't play that gamemode to its fullest potential.
Battlefield 4 is still pretty lively to this day and that makes me a happy little camper
BF3 *felt* better to play (I'm not sure why, I wish I could articulate) but 4 is objectively a better game
For me, it goes 1942 > Vietnam > 2142 > Battlefield 3 > Battlefield 1 > Battlefield 4
It feels like there were some small tweaks to the movement and gunplay of BF4 to make it a bit snappier and responsive compared to BF3. BF3 wasn't clunker by any means, but the small amount of time I have put into 4 (compared to 3 at least) it does feel like my soldier actually responds on time.
It's good that 4 basically has all the maps anyone actually cares about from 3 in it now, along with some classics from 2. But you've got to wade through the hordes of Op Locker and Metro servers first.

imo BF3 has much superior gun sounds overall gun feel.
BF4's weapons all feel very samey and weak with the slightly higher TTK. The absurdly slow bullet velocity and sheer cocaine-tier speed of BF4 makes gunplay very erratic to me where you pretty much master every weapon if you know how to remotely microburst and abuse crouch spam and jumping.
Bad Company best Battlefield and I honestly loved the campaign a lot.
God I want BC1 on PC.
BF3 and BF4 had some great loading screen themes. I'm in love with the one for Metro and its BF4 incarnation as well:

Listening to these never fails to get my blood pumping.

Recreation of the intro with accurate gameplay
You know, I don't think I ever heard the loading music thanks to Battlelog working as intended 90% of the time (until BF4 removed it in favour of the BF1 menu system).
I'm not ashamed to admit I kinda loved the idea of Battlelog. A single point for me to set up my loadouts, check challenges, interact with any clans and find servers without even having to boot the game up. I could see if there were any currently open servers for whatever I was feeling at the time, and not have to commit to running the game. Then just click "Join" and do other stuff while the game loaded in the background, automatically opening up when it was time to play.
I can get why some people didn't like it, as changing server was a fraction more involved. But the game opened and closed relatively quickly so I never really had any issues changing server.
