The sound sting makes the scene feel like something from a crappy anime instead of something from a neo-noir crime thriller, granted the series have veered more into anime territory ever since the series changed writer after Yakuza 2. Sometimes when you get hurt like that you don't really register the pain until a few moments later, that's why the scene doesn't include a sound effect or why it doesn't show the audience what happened immediately, it's there to emulate the feeling of Kiryu realizing what has just happened to him through cinematic techniques. It's basic film school stuff but it's used to great effect to elevate what could easily have been a pretty run of the mill scene, it's especially important because that scene pretty much marks a turning point for the narrative and Kiryu as a character.
Also, mariachi music? Really? It's vocal jazz, something that was often used in old noir and neo-noir movies which obviously inspired the games mood and tone.
Okay, fair enough. At the very least I'm sure people will be able to remove that sound although the song in that scene is used a bunch of times in other scenes so you might be stuck with it.
And yeah, sounds like Mariachi music to me, just in Japanese.
You're either incredibly stubborn or just taking the piss out of us, because it's incredibly obvious you aren't going to budge no matter how many examples and explanations we give of why the changes in YK2
Sorry I'm not as cultured as you, man. I don't mean it as an insult or some such it's just what it sounds like to me.
I also see your examples and think they're at worst minor niggles so, yeah, I still think that K2 is a good remake and a superior experience to the original release.
