About half the starwars fandom right now: https://media1-production-mightynetworks.imgix.net/asset/3761272/post..jpg?ixlib=rails-0.3.0
I'm disgustingly annoyed that when kylo attacks that dude in the trailer the lightsaber doesn't simply cut straight through him. It's a fucking LIGHTSABER SECOND Why is that tie interceptor not firing its main guns It's a fucking SPACESHIP why is it trying to RUN OVER its target??! Oh my god this movie is going to genuinely make people question their sanity.
skywalkers rise up
We live in a galaxy
The Senate has returned. I am now interested.
I couldn't be more bored by this teaser but questions like these are like maybe watch the movie and find out? Cuz maybe there's context and it's there to make you ask questions? Woah...

Look again. He's givin' the dude a shove and stabbing him with the crossguard, not slicing him with the blade.
eternally baffled by the amount of people convinced that "let the past die" is the message that TLJ actually endorses.
Aside from her parents, Rey has no struggles or flaws whatsoever to overcome.
This has been proven wrong about 120 million times, but ok.
Did the last film not show her struggling with her Jedi training and attempting (and failing) to turn Kylo Ren back to the light?
Have you even watched the films?
Well I'm eternally baffled as to what message Rian was trying to convey or endorse at all. It was less "lets do something new with star wars" and more "lets fake everyone out at every turn and never actually establish anything!"
Will I be damned. Even still how Ep8 turned out, you gotta admit they know how to reel you in without revealing much. I'm gonna cry buckets with Carie Fisher's scenes now given what we have and what the enemy plans to do. I'm gonna imagine Ben isn't going to be happy that mommy dearest is still alive. I bet you $10 that The Emperor is coming back in Snoke's body put back together or take possession of Ben Solo like he did in the non-canon Empire's End comics before dying for good. I can't wait; two of Star War's greatest villains, old and new generation alike coming together in one final film of the Skywalker Saga. Whether or not Palpatine is truly alive or not I'd imagine the giant explosion in Return of the Jedi would have tipped people off.
Sorry if you count struggling training for half a day a struggle.
What was really wasted in Ep 8 was the whole part with luke teaching kylo and other jedi flashback. That should of been a 5-10min sequence in my opinion and given us a taste of what he was like in the time frame.
I mean, if you want to just ignore the narrative to suit your argument I could say that Luke was a Gary Stu. Starts out as a shitty moisture farmer. Leaves and immediately becomes an amazing pilot who rescues a princess and blows up the Death Star and the only thing he has to overcome is being sad because an old man died. Continues into the sequel. Trains with Yoda for a bit and then leaves. Faces Vader and the only consequence is that he's sad for a bit and loses a hand that he immediately replaces. Goes into the third film. Rescues Han and manages to look super cool while doing so. Confronts his father, gets shocked a bit and manages to turn Vader back and wins despite never actually having to fight Palpatine.

I would hardly call those real struggles, but alright. Luke lost a hand, lost to Vader, lost Obi Wan, lost his aunt and uncle, was shit with the force until Return, and he didn't even beat palpatine. Comparing Luke's issues to Reys issues really puts her "struggles" into perspective.
I would hardly call those real struggles, but alright. Anakin lost a hand, two legs, and had a fuckton of damage done to the rest of his body, lost his mother, lost his wife, had his children taken from him and hidden away, was manipulated into becoming both a child murderer and the most hated man in the galaxy, and literally lost to palpatine so hard he became his indentured servant for over two decades. Comparing Anakin's issues to Luke's issues really puts his "struggles" into perspective. ;)
trailer looks like arse tbh
Looking at that scene again, considering it's implied Kylo's the one piloting it...I get the feeling he's not actually trying to kill her there...
I have so many questions. The title of the movie doesn't really have any context given what happened last time especially since Rey isn't anyone's relation, let alone a Skywalker. Plus if the stinger at the end is what everyone thinks it is, who actually gives a shit? How does that factor into the story at all? The Empire has been dead for ages, Snoke and Kylo's efforts were a (successful?) attempt at a resurrection, and they spent all last movie building up Kylo as the "final boss." So where would the Emperor fit in at fucking all, and who would honestly give a shit? Or is he just some hobo they find living in a discarded bit of Death Star and its a neat cameo? Fucking bizarre all around tbh.
If the Emperor actually is back as more than a force ghost, I'm skipping this out of principle. Same if Rey is revealed to be related to any original trilogy character. Or if Kylo Ren is redeemed. If JJ wants to throw out all the stuff in TLJ that I actually liked, just so he can remake Return of the Jedi, than I am not wasting a single dollar on his POS. Oh, and if he cut Rose rather than Rose's actor deciding that she didn't want to be part of the franchise anymore (for understandable reasons), then he can also go fuck himself. I do NOT approve of giving the alt-right fuckers who called Tran a CGI character what they want, regardless of whatever reason JJ claimed he had for it.
Rose is in Episode 9 https://preview.redd.it/nhgf9you5vr21.png?auto=webp&s=1baaff55cbeac9ec37d1291b575f5258e8b8bd99
Oh thank god. I didn't notice that in the trailer. Well, that's my biggest worry sorted out. Cause that would have been a really fucking insensitive decision, especially given that the villains of the sequel trilogy are modeled after the alt-right fuckers. (Still expect JJ to otherwise go full hack, though. It's what Disney hired him for the last time too.)
My guess is that ol' Monster Mash's appearance is going to be like Yoda's in TLJ, where he only actually shows up for about five minutes tops for one big scene. Especially since they've managed to keep Ian McDiarmid's involvement entirely under wraps before now, which I imagine would be difficult if he were to have a more substantial presence in the film. For what it's worth, personally don't actually see Abrams directly retconning anything major from TLJ at all tbh. (though at worse my fear is that he'll end up undermining the themes of that film in some way, deliberately or not.) I'm not really sure why you'd be against this but ok?
People are already meme'ing the laugh. I had to, sorry folks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZM6CUa6j7E
