I'm against Kylo Ren being redeemed because he already had his Vader with the Emperor moment in The Last Jedi, and he chose poorly. He shouldn't get another chance just for the sake of blatantly copying Return of the Jedi. Can we please do something different for once?
Bad guy hubris would be my best guess.
If we can get more Ep3 Palpatine I'm down
I'm down if Finn gets to do something, anything, that's not either amazingly stupid or made irrelevant shortly after.
You don't need to personally and eternally man the ramparts, at this point you've gone from eyerolling predictable to just sad. Not only are you not going to change anyone's mind ever, at this you're actively and enthusiastically contributing to the fatigue and the disdain with your pedantic wookie™pedia™ responses™. https://lumiere-a.akamaihd.net/v1/images/6d7454cea6644379adc7e529c5790a28078a2823.jpeg?region=0,0,450,450
If JJ Abrams found a way to make Ep3 Sheev work in the current trilogy then he'd deserve an Oscar. Ian McDiarmid did great as the cartoon villain he was given but Palpatine is enjoyable in a so-hilariously-bad-it's-good way. The gritty battles of the Disney films just wouldn't work with that goofy fucker cackling and Sheev spinning off the walls. Imagine there being a poignant final duel between Rey and Kylo Ren and then this happens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9KVIfpNG4w
I'm not doing any of that, but ok.
after watching this my disappointment is inmesuarable and my day is ruined feels like disney and JJ put a bunch of old ideas in a blender and this is the result
Hmm after the dumpster fire of episode 8 I wasn't sure I'd bother with this one. Who know a short trailer showing practically nothing would hype me enough to change my mind. What is with that title. And that laugh. And https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BXEvmWbeC8
Oh no. She's adorable. I'm kind of glad she's back into the picture with another shot because I feared that after TLJ and the controversy they'd just put her on ice or something.

I admit some of the angry SW fan reactions are midly amusing.
like how many people repeat this line in clear and direct contradiction to TLJ? people get such a group think hate boner for something sometimes. It's not the best film, but I enjoyed it.
I'm curious if he is just a Force Ghost or a vision or something, I'm really curious if he is actually reintroduced, how it will be implemented.
There was a mention that Sith do not possess the knowledge to becoming one with the force but have been known to haunt artifacts and places
"Aside from being abandoned as a child and having to live off subsistence parts scavenging in the desert, Rey has no struggles or flaws* whatsoever!" *(Not including the death of a hero and mentor, the severe injury of one of your only friends, nor having your preconceptions of the Jedi, the force, your heritage and your own capabilities broken)
The music and the tone of the trailer feels better somehow but who the fuck knows what we'll actually get.
Sheev coming back just kind of fucks with Vaders whole character arc lmao In the end, the poor guy didn't do anything RIP
They needed something big to get my attention again, and damn if Palpatine wasn't perhaps the only possible way lol
You realize a lot of those things are just bad things that happened to other characters right? I think its a bit of a stretch to say she had a mentor. She beat Luke in a fight and flies the Millennium Falcon better than Solo.
I still wonder how someone who spent her entire life on a desert planet KNOWS HOW TO SWIM
The Force, i aint gotta explain shit.
I mean, he helped stop the 2nd Death Star an freed the galaxy for 30 years. Evil never truly goes away, sometimes you have to sacrifice everything just to get it to shut up for a little while. Also, he got less shit on than the Classic Trio, at least. It's apparently a theme with the sequel trilogy.

My biggest issue with Rey is that she made it out of the second movie with both hands.
Hm look at this, Rian’s films are still being worked on Lucasfilm is putting the Star Wars movies on hiatus | EW.com
Honestly I'm going to try and go into this one with no expectations, I'll try not to have low but I certainly won't be having high, I've seen enough deconstructions by decent people to know the faults of Episode 7 and 8, especially 8, that movie's a mess. I'm at a point now where I'm becoming disinterested in Star Wars movies, I don't feel excitement towards this one's release, instead it's just, "Cool, we can round off this trilogy finally and put it to bed." It's a shame I feel that way too because Star Wars could be really good and has been really good, but it's just not be handled very well.
Calling Rey a Mary sue is a shallow and weak criticism. Nor do I buy the BS peddled about her being a poster for a political agenda. She is however a terribly written character and it baffles me that anyone would contest that at the very least that she is boring. She is flawed, she does make errors, but mostly because she's just too pure and innocent. She doesn't come across as a realistic human being that is relatable or interesting. Her entire character is that she's sweet and innocent, doesn't have a clue who she is or is supposed to be, and has unexplained great reserves of power. She has the depth of a kiddy pool and the motivations of a wind -up engine. She does heroic things mostly because that's what the writer expects the hero character to do. Luke isn't a fantastic example of a "complex" character in the OT but at least his actions are somewhat believable. He loses his guardians and his mentor and that motivates him, not just some inexplicable inherent goodness. At the end of A New Hope he is a grunt and ranking soldier in a unit when he participates in the attack on the Deathstar. He's a downtrodden everyman. Rey doesn't make any real progression after the loss of her mentor in TFA. She already had the nerve and courage to try escape her cell using untested powers, sneak around a high security installation without any help and fight a Sith, all on her own. Luke doesn't do anything of major significance on his own in ANH iirc. Even when he destroys the Deathstar in ANH he needs Obi-wan to encourage him to try to use the force. Luke being a good person makes more sense because he had guardians and even Obi-Wan watching him at a distance. Rey was an orphan who lived in poverty and had to salvage scraps to survive. You would think that would harden and depress someone. You don't see that reflected in her actual personality much at all, only in her abilities. Also the worst part is that a lot of the good things you can see about Luke ( believeable and organic motivations, development etc) apply to Finn in TFA, who I thought was great. In TLJ they waste his character so much it hurts.
will they revisit canto bight? or was the scene with the kid and the ring TOTALLY MEANINGLESS? these are the real questions.
