So bringing the conversation back to the game itself, WWZ looks pretty uninspired and clunky compared to L4D. I don't see myself buying it unless it gets a massive discount and even then I think I'd hesitate.
Tbh as someone who thinks zombie games are overly made and garbage it's very refreshing to see https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/716/c7f63756-466c-47e6-93bc-10b76842ccd3/image.png Something like this, as seen in Dead Rising. Literal endless hordes of nameless easy to kill enemies. This is what I imagine zombies being. That being said, 'Special' zombies as seen in L4D are a positive thing to flavor gameplay. EGS itself isn't truly bad The BAD part, is EGS paying devs to take games OFF steam, rather than them having never been on it to begin with. it's a shit launcher and I fully hate exclusives, even on consoles, but the real shit is taking games off steam. They aren't being taken off because EGS is a better platform, they're being taken off for short term profit. Very bad optics.
Thats the shittiest part, even one dev group admitted the amount of money they got paid is enough for them to cover dev costs even if everyone refunded. That's not competition lmao, if they funded those games from the ground up then fine, theres no argument there but they are literally poaching games out of steam by appealing to greed, towards developers or publishers. That is the main reason why everyone hates EGS exclusives, and bringing console exclusive bullshit to PC.
I fully agree. It's such a fucking shit show. I want someone to take steam on and show them a good fight, but this isn't a good fight. This is throwing sand.
The only people I've seen crying about Epic launcher are weebs and everyone knows if you have an anime avatar your opinion literally doesn't count. I've also actually never seen any genuine reason to hate on it just dumb rating and the same old excuse used to avoid giving any argument.
Please be honest to my following question. Do you wish to know why it is that people dislike EGS and why it is that they stand by the argument that it isn't just another launcher, but rather a very genuine problem to both the health of the game industry on PC and to other launchers that are attempting to compete healthily with Steam (not looking at publisher exclusives like UPlay, Bethnet, and Origin)? Or are you here to just post contrarian points of view for the sake of annoying people?
I think you're under the impression that those that disagree with you agree with each other. I don't mind EGS, that doesn't mean I think Steam is a monopoly. I've just had far less negative experiences with EGS than I have Steam, which is understandable considering I've been using Steam for years and EGS for months.
You must have missed the detailed post linked earlier, it's only posted once every thread on the subject (and for good reason).
That post isn't very convincing due to its combativeness, and is mostly a post arguing about Steam.
From what I'm reading with it open right now it's literally going point by point of how EGS has failed in many, many ways in response to a post praising EGS and demonizing steam, and is combative due to needing to be laid out in the first place written point by point because some dont evidentially see the many headlines or discussions of EGS's failings and simply say 'you all are just stupid for not liking egs because i dont see the flaws'. At that point it's generally hard to not be a bit combative with your points. The post itself is not defending things steam has done wrong, nor that it's wrong for storefronts to try and dethrone steam's position in the marketplace, it's simply that EGS has faults upon faults and steam is objectively the best storefront out there compared to others, and saying 'i dont see why people dislike it' as your first post here has done, even saying so after having reasonable arguments laid out via the post itself shown to you and simply disregarding it as 'arguing about steam' without actually seeing it does not lend credence to your capacity to argue for it without looking horribly ignorant or stubborn.
People care way too much about video game related stuff lmao. I don't care about EGS. I care about companies that exploit 3rd world labourers in horrid working conditions, companies that don't give a toss about destroying the environment with pollution and waste, companies that secretly steal all your data and personal information and basically act as spies for greedy megacorps. Maybe direct your limited energies towards those companies instead. Gamers are so entitled over inconsequential shit. This game looks fun tho and your loss if you're too much of a manchild to download EGS to play it
except EGS is screwing developing country purchasers out of even more money via overhead fees, can probably be used to steal your data due to breaches due to the overall lackluster infrastructure and development, and if given the chance will probably gladly screw you out of your money via the same fees. Not to mention we dont exactly have the group power to change all of that, while this is a thing that, due to being its direct consumers, have a modicum of power over, Also EGS and many other game companies are using some of the same anti-competitive practices of the same companies you're talking about, so saying you dont care is making you a bit of a hypocrite.
<4 EXTREMELY GROWN UP POINTS HAVE BEEN DEPOSITED INTO YOUR ACCOUNT>
That's mostly just willful ignorance on your part though
I love that nobody can come up with an actual argument other than accusing the person who disagrees with them of being disingenuous.
Ohh, so tell us, Mr Opinion Matters what is YOUR opinion about this? Can you defend the Epic Games Launcher with some real arguments? Did you just ignore the link that Janus Vesta posted? Here, maybe you can see it now: Devovler's Observation is now Epic Exclusive There is a search function in this forums that you can use to read the dozens of thread about the Epic Games store and why people hate it. Maybe I am a "weeb" and my opinion doesn't matter, but I at least don't make a shitpost like you because I can't make a real argument.
Coming in and regurgitating the same link that we've already disagreed with isn't going to magically convince us of anything. Not saying your opinion doesn't matter though. Different strokes for different folks. You care about the implications brought on by EGS's actions and that's fair. I just don't think it's a slippery slope.
The problem is that a lot of us are tired of explaining to the "I don't get it, why are you so angry about another launcher?" posters why we hate the Epic Games Store. There are literally a dozen threads with dozens of pages of discussions about the same topic that in this point, if you after read them, you still don't get it, then probably we can't convince you in this point. If you don't want to read the post that Janus posted, then read the rest of the thread, you can find some of my replies there. Or you can read some of the other threads about the Epic Store Store: Remedy’s Control joining list of Epic Games Store exclusives Vlambeer co Quantic Dream’s games coming to Epic Game Store in 1 year exclus.. Obsidian's "The Outer Worlds" spotted on Epic Game Store You have a lot of material to read there and understand why we hate it. Sorry if I don't give you a personal reply in this thread but I am personally tired of giving the same arguments on each thread.
Again, people who disagree with you don't necessarily agree with or even know each other. All of those threads are people being mad about exclusives, sorry if I don't want to wade through all of that when you can just type out whatever your point is.
"Wow, stop regurgitating the same link, show me something new." *new things are posted* "lol, tldr"
How about actually conversing instead of pasting.
Ok, here are my replies: Why do people get pissed about separate launchers? I can see people being mad about console exclusives. But EGS literally takes 7 seconds to download and install, is free, takes up less resources than Steam, and is completely stable (unlike Steam). As people said to you, we are not angry because we need to install the crappy launcher. Probably a lot of us have already uPlay/Battle.net/Bethesda Launcher/etc installed already. If you think it's inferior just launch it through steam? That is not how a launcher works. If you have to tell someone "just look it up" you probably don't have an argument. Or maybe because we wrote the same replies to the same silly arguments dozens of times and we are tired to do it. Well I'm sorry that everybody you argue with isn't literally a hivemind. If you care enough to argue and be hostile as hell, then you should care enough to just type out your argument. Tell me, why can't you look it up? You started the discussion with a ignorant statement, so Why we need to type you our arguments if you can't be bother to read them? We link you the thread with our arguments, I don't get why these doesn't count. This is just another post mad about store exclusives. Store exclusives mean nothing. It's a free store. I would understand if you had to pay for access to Epic Store but it's completely free and actually handles downloads and patches better than steam. Weird, looks like you ignored the parts where he explained why the store is shit, or why these exclusives are different of your common console exclusives, or the part where he mentions how the anti-competitives practices of Epic Games gonna fuck you up. But hey, if you think that his post is "another mad post about exclusives" then sorry but you are being really ignorant or dishonest. That post isn't very convincing due to its combativeness, and is mostly a post arguing about Steam. Again, if you don't care about this particular post, I invite you to read at least the thread where was posted. I love that nobody can come up with an actual argument other than accusing the person who disagrees with them of being disingenuous. I give you my super short version of why the Epic Games Store sucks: Epic games doesn't wants Forums, reviews or any feedback because "they are toxic", but the real reason is because they want to favor shitty developers/publishers on their shitty practices silencing consumers. Developer X can make the worse game with the most disgusting micro-transactions ever, but without the reviews/forums then your common consumer doesn't gonna know until is too late. Epic Games spies your Steam data because "reasons". For what we know, they only read your files searching your Steam friends and only send it to their servers if you agree, but they do it on the worse way possible, ignoring your privacy options and making backups of your personal data. Epic Store literally "steal" games from Steam. Some games like Metro were retired from Steam DAYS before they release because Epic give a big sack of money to the publisher. They used Steam as a marketing platform, give them and the users the middle finger and you can longer buy it anymore. Some of the exclusives were kickstarter games that promised Steam and GOG keys when the game releases, now you can accept the Epic key or pray for a refund. If you want a more extended and better wrote version of this, read the threads I linked to you. Happy?

You shouldn't be using in-store reviews to gauge the quality of a title regardless, always use trusted critics. Epic Games spies your Steam data because "reasons". For what we know, they only read your files searching your Steam friends and only send it to their servers if you agree, but they do it on the worse way possible, ignoring your privacy options and making backups of your personal data. This does not hinder my experience with playing their games at all, and more data means Epic can make a more catering experience so go for it. Epic Store literally "steal" games from Steam. Some games like Metro were retired from Steam DAYS before they release because Epic give a big sack of money to the publisher. They used Steam as a marketing platform, give them and the users the middle finger and you can longer buy it anymore. If I owned a store and had the money to buyout exclusivity for large titles, I definitely would. Where I buy the game does not matter at all once I'm in game. Some of the exclusives were kickstarter games that promised Steam and GOG keys when the game releases, now you can accept the Epic key or pray for a refund. You're still getting the key so that's not a big deal either.

This is where I'm ultimately drawing the line. Stealing games from Steam and other platforms was bad enough, but this? Bare minimum, until they apologize for this shit and take it out of the launcher, I will NEVER download the EGS client. And they're not going to apologize, because Tim Sweeney is an arrogant cunt.
I am gonna repeat what I posted some time ago (Again...): Steam reviews are more useful that you think for the common customer. Let me give you an example: Customer X is watching the last year E3 and he watches the trailer for Just Cause 4, his favorite franchise. He gets hyped and watch every trailer and gameplay from the official channel. The game launches, he read the review on IGN ( https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/12/04/just-cause-4-review ), he understands that has problems but is still a new Just Cause. He finally decides to purchase the game, he goes to Steam, and... a "Mostly Negative" in red is in the game page, then scrolls to the bottom and reads that the game is awfully optimised and has a ton of technical problems. He decides to not buy the game. The review system is basically the final barrier between you and the "Add to Cart" button. Maybe is not useful for you, but for a lot of people can be the thing that saves you to buy a turd of a game. Also, what are the "trusted critics"? Paid Twitch streamers? Shitty game journalist like the ones from IGN? I does hinder MY experience, and reading your personal data is not fine if you don't agreed. Maybe to you that's not a proble, but for people that likes their privacy, is super fucking shit. Well, is nice that you don't have a store then! For a lot of people, where you buy a game matters A LOT, for example thanks to the Steam regional pricing people of my country now buy games instead of pirate them. It is a big deal, they backed the proyect with the promise of a Steam/GOG key and the developer give them the middlefinger because the sack of money that Epic gave them was more important that their customers.
Nah fam, that's a load of shit. I've been watching these arguments go on for a while. There's been a lot of actual arguments in multiple threads including this one, not my fault you're sticking your head in the sand
In my experience, I've bought games review bombed for poor performance or optimization only to have them work perfectly fine on my rig. Not a lot of streamers are trusted critics and IGN is definitely not trusted by a lot of people. There are thousands of dedicated video game critics on Youtube, just find some who's values allign with yours. Critics you personally trust to have the same tastes as you. That's fine, I don't really value my time in a store as privacy. Agree to disagree? Regional pricing also leads to people using VPNs to get discounts on games, which isn't very attractive to people wanting to sell their game.
So? Because it works well on your PC doesn't mean that the game doesn't have performance problems. Nier Automata is a very good example of this, some people can enjoy the without any problems, but a lot of people have constant crashes and crappy framerate that is fixed using a third party tool (And even then you can get some crashes) Fine by me, but a lot of people cares a lot about their personal files and privacy and matters a lot on this discussion. There was some data released by Valve about how regional pricing helped to sell a lot more of copies, specially to third world countries. For what I know, these numbers are more important that some people using VPN to buy cheaper games. A forum doesn't work like that, you can read what happen months ago and understand what people were saying. I don't understand why if you were there or not matters so much if the discussion is exacly the same.
Literally look at the posts above yours, it tells you why people dislike Absolutely no self awareness "More data means Facebook can make a more catering experience for it" huuuhhhh
My point is that random people complaining about performance doesn't really mean much. Especially when most of the time it's someone with 6 year old hardware not realizing that their machine is outdated. If that's accurate, then fair enough. I'm talking about people being upset that the topic is being discussed again when the relevant threads have been inactive for over a month. I wasn't even the one who brought up EGS in the first place. The first reply in the thread did.
