Would be much more interesting to deal with human tensions than them trying and most likely failing to create decent enemies that aren't humanoid.
Kinda wish the DLC wouldn't feature any ayy's, only the aftermath of their visit.(Roadside picnic basically)
That would pretty much make it STALKER in the Real Virtuality engine, which means day one buy for me.

The DayZ props and map and new gear/vehicles are included in the base game; you have to actually select the Contact DLC, the same way you do with GM, if you actually want to load the game with ayys.
So that's an instant destruction of the #1 complaint by the vocal minority of hardcore milsimmers who threatened to uninstall Arma if the new DLC was aliens: everyone has to opt in specifically.
Wow, even if Aliens were in the sandbox by default, it wouldn't force them to play with them, or even show up in their milsim shit.
Can't fully enjoy being ordered by a 16-year old to do 50 push-ups if there's sci-fi content anywhere in the game
utterly unrealistic trailer
there's absolutely no way soldiers in arma 3 would get spooked by floating debris - that's probably the tamest physics glitch that game can provide
Instead you see a bunch of soldiers running away screaming. At the debrief they check their camera equipment, and its just a properly spaced and steadily moving convoy rolling down a road, nothing bouncing around or suddenly teleporting in to anything else.
In case you haven't seen, you can already use the terrain if you pre-ordered and are on the dev branch. You should definitely give it a look it's very sexy. (Also there is a gypsy town)
I can't wait to shoot down an alien landing craft in a fighter jet
Can't wait for SovietWomble's shenanigans for this one
Even though it's a dumb reason, this might be the thing that pushes me over the edge to finally get ARMA 3. I am a huge sucker for first contact scenarios (I actually liked the alien twist in Crysis), and having such a thing take place in a pretty realistic milsim-esque environment is really, really interesting.
Even liking and owning the game, this'll definitely get me to reinstall just to create some spooky little scenarios
I wish I had a group who did missions together, used to be apart of IFAP (FP airsoft subforum) and those 6 hour Arma 2 events were one of the highlights of my childhood
You could play with FP Arma.
I mean i've put 560 hours into this game with only about 20 of those hours spent in multiplayer, the amount of shit you can do with the game is similar in comparison to GMod, only its pretty much more military orientated
The amount of time I've spent in the mission editor dicking around with random scenarios, from Western front WW2 to Cold war gone hot 1980's - to some random near future WW3 Russia vs USA. The fact the game is a lot cheaper than it used to be, and that the devs are still adding stuff to the game (they added a ship and some Tomahawk-like rockets last september) just makes it one of the best games I've played in the past few years
bring on contact
And with a little bit of extra effort, all of this flexibility and variety is available for multiplayer, too -- so people who play alone and groups online can partake in anything from (super janky) piracy in the 18th century West Indies to fucking Halo. Arma 3 is an amazing sandbox and it's genuinely the closest I've come to playing a tabletop RPG in digital FPS form -- you can literally be the game master and view the game in flying RTS mode to guide players (or AI) through a mission, setting up traps and threats with nearly infinite flexibility thanks to them shipping a documented scripting engine with the game.

I made this trap and deployed it on FPARMA and it worked better than I hoped. I can't wait to pull super-weird traps on people and blame it on ayys.
Like this trap:

Arma 3 is one of my favourite games because I can do almost anything, things the devs never imagined or expected. The emergent gameplay is priceless.
that trap is the only time a vehicle has ever properly follows its intended path in arma
