You don't even know what the plot was previously to assume a plot change besides what people pieced together on fan theories and evidence, this is some of the most plot in all of the trailers period. It's not referring to Trump's walls, and it's a generic "America wants to regain its strength in the middle of a global crisis" thing from a female President even.

This is gonna be one of those games like last of us where yeah it came out on the PS3 too but the real juice was on the PS4. Except with this it's going to be PS4 and PS5.

Theres so much of Phantom Pain in it. Not that its a bad thing, Phantom Pain was delightful to play.
I think this finally puts to rest the theory that MGSV was released unfinished because Kojima went massively over-budget and/or was taking far too long to finish the game. I'm calling it now that Konami wanted Kojima fucking gone so they could exit the video game industry as soon as possible, and gave him a tight deadline to polish up what he had done and get it released.
Still remains to be seen whether the writing in this game is going to be any better than Kojima's all-time low that was MSGV. But I wonder if that wasn't in part because he was tired of working in the Metal Gear universe and stopped giving a shit about the story. I bet he's been wanting to do something original for ages, but he had no choice but to keep working on Metal Gear - cause again, Konami sucks ass.

a game calling for people to link together to solve a humanitarian problem, rather than stay isolated as waste away [ which I assume will be an option, such as the nuclear options in mgsv ] is asking the player/viewer to make the decision that benefits more than just themselves.
I mean what's a "centrist" position for abortion? For the wealth inequality gap? For gender equality? For LGBT rights? For segregation? For re-segregation?
Many of these positions don't really sit well with a "fence sitters" position, as inaction is complicity in many ways.
Might just be the game to make me buy a PS4, this trailer sold it better than all the others before.
If the game ends up good, then I'll probably get it when I get a PS5 when those come out, since it'll be backwards compatible with the PS4.

I'm pretty "right" on guns, and "left" on tons of other things.
But I wouldn't call myself a centrist because I don't feel that describes the reality of the situation.
In american politics especially, you're going to find that a lot of issues are bundled into one and you only get to pick from one of two options who have binary views on many subjects. How does centrism apply there in an actionable way?
On a political/voting level, none. In a perfect world I would want a system that has the population vote on on issues individually.
