This was a great trailer. Hope they show off more of the combat at E3.
Sony won't be at E3 this year, so this might be it unless they announce a State of Play (their Nintendo Direct equivalent) broadcast soon.
Huh, that's gonna be neat. Like, mocap has come far enough that it's already trippy to see characters in games that resemble their actors to the same level as they would in film- Detroit: Become Human is a good example of this with Connor and his actor, and here we have Norman and Mads that follow that normal neat-but-still-a-bit-trippy pattern. But now we're going to have a real person's face and body played and voiced by someone else entirely? Alongside characters who match their actors? Funky.
I was definitely excited for this game from the previous trailers and other content, but this trailer made me much more excited for what’s to come.
Based off the description, combat really doesn't seem like the point of the game.
It seems like a stealth game until you get snatched by the creepy tar astronauts that you can only see with your mechanical sunflower powered by a baby and get dragged into the crude oil, then it becomes Battlefield 1 except the soldiers are made of embers and there's dead sea life liberally strewn over everything and you have to fight your way out. seems like a comfy enough game loop to me
I I am pretty sure that they were from another era. I think he will also have some WW1 soldiers with him at one point.
Yeah you can tell there's a fire in Kojima's belly, along with all the people at Kojipro. The best thing for a visionary creator is to be let go from restrictions with a blank cheque which is what Sony did for him. The first trailer for Death Stranding was only 3 years ago. 3 and a half years from start to release is pretty damn quick considering a AAA game so it's very clear everyone involved is passionate with what they're doing and very excited to see this project released.
I dunno, I'm not really a big fan of facial capture. Games had the same strengths as animation in the sense that you weren't stuck with the look of the actor, the team could easily make their vision of the character come to life. When I see the characters in Death Stranding all I see is Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, I don't see iconic characters. I think MGSV and the newer Capcom games running on the RE engine used this tech better, they still use facial scanning but modify the characters faces to look more like the characters they are supposed to be and less like the models/actors.
They'll be doing a State of Play during the Days of Play week after E3. We'll probably get some more gameplay then.
Man, it's been a long, long, LONG time since a fucking videogame-trailer made me get goosebumps. But this one did. Holy shit, a videogame I am extremely hyped to get and play, first one in YEARS. I can't even remember what the last game that made me feel this way was, I think Dark Souls 3 kind of? But not in this way, not at all.
In some extended footage there's been some gameplay reveals and a boss fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TukQrxtb4hA
https://i.imgur.com/TOnilXZ.png I hope this won't be really important to the overall game since it's going to suck having to buy PSN for what's a primarily single player game. With the main themes being around working and coming together it wouldn't be surprising if there's a large emphasis on it.
Asynchronous online means you may not need a PSN+ subscription, seeing how DMC 5 worked out; ie you didn't need to have a subscription for the cameo system to work, but it only used playback recordings instead of people playing live.
Goddamn do I still love Yoji Shinkawa's work https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/112373/668b4ec7-3af3-458b-b824-42e25c6dbe2e/RGEOUYM.jpg
I've always thought the same, though it's Die-Hardman wearing the literal LUDENS mask that seals the deal for me. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1909/27d1fe48-7673-4f4a-99e9-caa0a0e7bd3d/diehardman.png Since Die-Hardman is obviously not the same person inside the mascot version, I want to say LUDENS is either the suit itself or a group related to space travel in Death Stranding's universe. ...or it's just Kojima doing a really unsubtle easter egg. But with how overt it is, I don't think it's likely.
It has to be better than mgsv, not just because of Konami but also because kojima has to contort his storytelling to fit within 20 years of lore and canon
Not true, mission 13 and I think it was mission 8 was actual multiplayer. Me and the other player would sit there and taunt each other.
Real talk, it really doesn't occur to Kojima that names like Die-Hardman or Hot Coldman actually sound really wack in English?
only kojima would get his favorite directors' likeness to be major characters in his video game
ngl when the names "deadman" "heartman" "die-hardman" showed up one after another I started questioning whether this is actually the fabled kojima's megaman sequel
I know people don't like this comparison, but that multiplayer aspect feels a little Dark Souls like. Sharing resources? If you were in an area in DS1, and someone kindled their bonfire, you'd get an estus refilled. Peoples' footsteps? Bloodstains and notes. The DS games are single players with a multiplayer aspect that can enhance it, but is not wholly needed. You can enjoy them offline, as I am sure you could with Death Stranding (same initials lmao). Don't get worked up over it.
Sony's probably super hard on for this game because it has so so much elements resembling movies ranging from famed director to named actors to posters. I, however, am not too much of a fan of games trying too hard to imitate films, but hey, a good game's a good game I suppose.

It has to be intentional at this point, especially now that he has a bunch of big name actors in his game.
I am so so hyped for this game. Aside from pretty much all of Kojima's games being heavily political in nature, I always loved how much information you could get from the heaps of codec calls and dialogues and cutscenes in all the MGS games so the "propaganda" in this game doesn't matter me at all, it's actually refreshing after how little of it there was in TPP. I knew from the start that the Ludens suit would appear in game because it's design lines up really well with the game's designs too. But going to the moon as well? Shit. Also really enjoyed all the hour-long exposition cutscenes in past MGS games so even if this game is very rooted in Kojima's "I make games but I want to make movies" ideology I'll still be happy for sure. I just hope the game doesn't tank too much on my vanilla PS4. I was planning on buying a PRO anyway but possibly only after the PS5 comes out and it goes cheap.

Damn, besides the expanded colors and details his style's essentially the same as it was back in the PS1 days, you could practically slot them into his past MGS artwork and they would fit perfectly. Also those blue wristbands seem particularly important, like Die-Hardman may be a porter or something like Sam, seeing as we've seen Deadman end up in that alternate space in a previous trailer.
Might just be a thing all Bridges associates have seeing as Heartman has one too. There's just so much symbolism and questions and I love it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107214/1c2bd0b4-6e67-4820-bfec-614484c6c2c0/image.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/187255829693464576/583674582695936000/unknown.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/187255829693464576/583672397442318336/unknown.png For example the math equations about black holes and time dilation. The dream catcher that Sam carries in some trailers. Why your weapons require fluid? Cause health is indicated by the wristband I think. And not to mention the whole theme surrounding gold and hands. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107214/e315a6be-6822-4ca5-be36-4ee19c7b7fdd/image.png
