first trailer literally had beached, dead and rotting sea creatures covered in oil. environmentalist messages a stretch you say, a stretch lmao
How could you possibly be this oblivious When you walk around do you constantly bump into things because of how little you pay attention
yeah i think it's this, isnt there that DOOMS disease that leads to Chiral Allergy?
I don't know if this is obvious, but one of the bubbles the baby breathes out is a heart. https://i.imgur.com/FOh3q4J.png
Looks like a corrupted shark or killer whale or something.

Considering both Survive and DS have gargantuan striding creatures, I am almost positive that the team working on Survive knew
So anyone got a good theory on what the hand imprints on Sam's body signify? Cause in the third(?) trailer he gets caught in the explosion and one hand print forms on his body, I am assuming it's the BB pod one?
Everyone here is discussing the true meaning of the game and whatnot, while, personally, I'm just gushing over that sweet golden skull mask villain
i guess we know who of the writing duo wrote the hand part of ocelots character in MGS2 now
I would be shocked if the guys working with Kojima before Konami decided they didn't want to make money any more weren't aware of his plans for Death Stranding to be fair. It takes years to pull something like this together after all. I would go as far to say that MGS V only became what it was (open world and fairly unconstrained) because Kojima was thinking of playing with open world games, and thus built the Fox Engine in preparation for something like DS. MGS V just happened to be a solid test bench for the engine as it was guaranteed to sell and generate feedback from the myriad of systems that ran the game. Really looking forward to seeing how well DS actually runs, Horizon: Zero Dawn runs pretty fucking well from what I've played of it on a PS4 Pro (1080p) whilst still looking incredible. This is the same engine, and it looks like KojiPro are pushing it even harder. Hopefully the trailers for the game don't give away too much, that sense of intrigue that Kojima creates is wonderful, even if the actual twist or answer to your question is fucking stupid in the end.
I think it's the marks of the BT's, maybe they work like scars ? In the initial trailer he's covered in them and the area he's in looks like "the other side"
Imagine if every time you plug in the bridge babies you kill them little by little
Every death makes his connection to hades stronger. I imagine it could relate to a game mechanic where you'll begin to see BTs naturally the closer connected you are but also it could make things harder when you're in Hades. One thing I feel certain about is that killing human enemies in our world will strand them in Hades, either making BTs more common or making more enemies appear when you're down there. Frankly biggest question I have is what would a definitive fail state be in this game? Seems nothing short of causing a void out near main characters would impede progress.
He did say he felt like shit using them. Maybe it's what allows him to come back? Or is that just his ability?
Judging by the website, it also seems like killing people in Hades is a really bad idea, as it might have consequences.
Tbh I think the environmental message is very clear in this thing, like even in this trailer the whole scene in ~0:57 with the "smoke" and bird dying it's really obvious to what it is hinting. Then you get the whole black goo thing combined with the gold just reminds me of oil and the thing about the black gold.
This game looks amazing. So many unsettling visuals and ideas. Incredibly creative.
Can’t wait to play this on my base PS4 and 720p television
the word Chiral means two images that cant be superimposed over eachother equally, which comes from the fact that you can't symmetrically overlap hands
The first example I get were indeed hands even in the early trailers I pulled like... 10+ images which individually had them I almost feel like they're a symbol of 'the other side', AKA the dead. Death is literally everywhere, thus hands are everywhere.
Chirality also refers to molecular structures. You can have a right hand molecule(extends to the right) and you can flip it so that it's left handed, and it's a totally different molecule in it's effects in our bodies or how it interacts with the world.
Just had a random thought. So what if Sam uses those handcuffs but on just one hand, with both sides, because his other-side counterpart is also wearing them but with the other side of the handcuff. This game also makes me feel somewhat of an urge to give Survive a try, even tho I know how bad it is I did play the beta or whatever and had some good fun.
I wonder if the handcuff is connected to a different version or someone else. I invested a dozen hours or so into Survive and I can say I enjoyed it. It's a decent game but knowing Metal Gear is in the title hampers the experience quite a bit, but I'd say for 20 bucks or so you get your money's worth
https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1136074622711975936 See, this is the stuff that kinda worries me. I get the feeling that he doesn't really have a focus for the gameplay, and that he's purely focusing on a specific gimmick to get a narrative point across. It's bordering on the pretentiousness when the idea of "strand game" is to connect people. Which doesn't mean anything and we've been doing it since multiplayer was a thing. That's not enough to create an entirely new genre imo. The way I see it, either he's trying to push the idea that his game is more than the stealth and shooting mechanics (which are actually solid) but he doesn't want it to be categorized as such to undermine the whole point of the game's narrative, or those mechanics aren't fleshed out enough to call them either genre and so he's disguising it as something more by just making up his own genre. Or I'm looking too deep into his words like I do every time the lad posts anything about his games.
He's being saying pretty much since day one every single element of the game directly relates to the theme of the game. It's not just the plot that revolves around the theme but the mechanics are entirely there to drive it home as well. If you're expecting another stealth action game then yes you will be disappointed because this isn't metal gear.
ofcourse not, but I at least expect the gameplay to be at the standard that Metal Gear set. Not necessarily to surpass it, but to at least be equal.
Plus the application of the game mechanics and the game's plot being tied together is one of my favorite elements of good games. It allows you to deeply immerse yourself in the game since your actions serve a purpose that drives the game's plot forward instead of game play and plot not communicating with each other. A simple example would be like Skyirm where you can shout in the game. The reasoning is that you are the dragon born so you can learn shouts. As you learn shouts, you become more powerful. You become more powerful so that you can defeat Alduin. Most good games try to provide reasons as to why you, the player, are a unique individual that accomplish the difficult tasks that the game assigns to you. From what they showed us in the trailers is that you are an individual with unique traits and a drive to change the world. How this is accomplished seems to be by maybe delivering goods. This involving stealth doesn't seem to be the main aspect, but that there might be stealth elements such as when you are getting hunted down. How the game presents problems and tools for solving them is yet to be seen entirely, but from we've seen is that the game doesn't seem to be stealth driven as there are larger portions of shown game play where the player is travelling expansive environments.
I stopped playing after I realized that survivors are rare, and just because it says their previous jobs were "Carpenter" or "Paramedic" doesn't mean they'll actually do anything if you shove them in base building or medical units, as a matter of fact, they can be useless all together. If it wasn't for that, I probably could've invested a few hundred hours in it
I clocked myself out once I found out the plot was basically The Drifting Classroom. I don't know if the endings the same though
