I hope they dial down the HUD and/or make it context sensitive (fade away when it's not important). Main thing I want to see is how Phobos gets decimated.
story to doom was always sort of secondary but in a "still neat as shit" way
looks fucking epic but the hitsound does seem a bit weird and grating, almost like the old minecraft one lol
Make the hud and damage grunt issues known to the id crew where possible 'cause they do listen to the community.
When Doom guy fucks over hell so much that even heaven gotta say "ok you gotta chill wtff"
Honestly looks like they went a bit too far in replicating parts of retro games... there are some things that really should stay in the past, like the HUD that is stylised to a point that it's actually difficult to read and obnoxious pain sounds.
was kind of hoping for levels populated with enemies instead of more arenas that lock you down until you kill everything
"DONT FUCKING TELL ME WHAT TO DO" i bet they are keeping hayden in witness protection
Should’ve called it a Cake-odemon
Doom 2016's minimalist story ironically elevates it above the majority of AAA games, which go big but often lack a shred of originality and are paired with god awful writing. Just look at the tomb raider reboot trilogy, for example. They had such lofty aspirations for the whole damn thing from day one, but the writing was so ass that all the production values and cinematic sequences couldn't make up for it one bit. (I've enjoyed the games in spite of the story, not because of is. There is basically nothing redeemable about them outside of the gameplay and graphics.)
The Icon of Sin is in Doom 2016. It's already dead because the other Doom games are canon to Doom 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STqU9xQ69N8
I actually like the HUD, I think it'll feel better in actual gameplay when you're focused on the fights, the larger color coding and prominence gives a better idea while in the heat of battle I think

I'm hoping they kind of explain some of the new designs for enemies, Mancubus specifically. I kind of liked the 2016 look. I'm also seeing some complaints that the story might delve around battling Angels and fighting against heaven. I kind of think that Hell just invaded Heaven and is rampaging around there as well, with certain angels turning evil. Heck,it might be that those fallen angels allowed Heaven to be invaded.
I seem to remember D2016 mentioning that the Doom Slayer more or less had the approval of Heaven for what he does despite being too fucking angry to ever ascend himself. It's be a bit weird to go from fighting demons to fighting angels unless ID designed them to be either fallen or just plain monstrous.
I'm really not sure why it's even a problem tbh. Heaven not being the "good" guys would give it so much more depth. And Doom has always been about a man who refused to be manipulated and controlled, to the point where he outright rejects the apocalypse multiple times, I don't see why Heaven would be exempt from that. Doomguy is loyal to humankind, not any supernatural deity.
With things like the Rad suit, classic doom like designs for demons/weapons I am thinking that they are trying to add in lots of throwbacks which also includes these pain sounds. I like them but they are too frequent I think.
Oh shit how did I fucking miss that? And someone on here mentioned that Samuel could try to Merge himself with the Icon. It's like the Death Star, yeah you killed it but here it is again shiny and "new". Though I'd think they wouldn't recreate the Icon after they recreated the original Doom final boss.
fucking Gimmie
I just want Doomguy to fight some Bayonetta angels
They should double down on the voice and add a jump sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDw2K0TiFE0
Jump sounds should be exclusively Ranger only. Sorry Doom dude. You best stick with your wall humping moans.
Eh, I'm not sure I agree. In large part because video games have already explored the "what if heaven was bad" angle quite a bit. For once, It'd be cool to see a game where heaven is actually good for the most part, and fell to the demons because they were betrayed by some of their own kind. It would also make sense as to why they've seemingly empowered Doomguy, according to the lore. Perhaps they are already all but extinct, so they've chosen Doomguy to finish the fight - not because he was destined to, but because he was already so filled with rage against the demonic forces somewhere between Doom 1 and Doom 2016, and so effective against them, that heaven itself was impressed and appointed him to be their instrument of divine vengeance.
To me the trailer sounds more like Heaven being pissed because Earth is full of sin and everyone needs to die so there can be some peace and quiet, but the Doomslayer is preventing that from happening.
i WANT that fucking helmet but i'm afraid of bethesda's shitty merch legacy
Or perhaps Cocoa-demon
Just remember what could have been https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY62UVMw3HI
They did show it off on stage, so... I'm hoping that's the quality we get.
You could see his face in Doom 2016 as well. There were also pain sounds in the original 90s games.
